"You think the dreams mean somethin'?" Nova asked. "Like pieces of a puzzle?" Wren nodded slowly. "Or warnings. Or worse." That night, they met again at the Bone House. No one had to call it. They just knew. Like the dreams had sent an invite in the form of thudding heartbeats and half-choked breaths. The Bone House creaked under their weight as they crowded inside, each with flashlights and candles. Wren laid out maps, scraps of old letters, and the tattered notebook from Atlas's attic.

She needed to forget Callum, and not even sleep was helping since he lived rent free in her dreams. “Fine, I’ll go.” As soon as the words slipped out of her lip, everything else went by in a blur. Bonnie didn’t waste a single second getting dressed and driving them to a club just a few miles away. Sugar, she thought it was called, she really wasn't paying attention to the name, only the bar. Which was the first place she found when they got in. Bonnie ordered a dirty martini and drank it in one go. “Don’t stay too long.” She nudged Alice as she shimmied through what little space there was in the crammed dance floor, catching a few of the men's eyes.

I cried out in pain as I dropped to the floor. "And that is to make sure you won't run again," his lips lifted into a smirk while my eyes stung with tears. I felt the world around me shifting. Darkness crept around me but I turned my eyes to Lindsey. My eyes rolled back and my eyelids started to feel heavy, I tried to reach out to my sister. I had the feeling that I wouldn’t be able to see her again. The last thing I heard before welcoming the darkness was his bitter voice saying, "Take her." and with that, I closed my eyes and lost myself into oblivion.

She would always stand by June in this. Breathing became difficult for a while as she was being torn in half. She was now the one with her head underwater, and no one to help her like she did Mitsuhide so many weeks ago. When she willingly walked into a nightmare. Now the nightmare was there to take over her life as well.

She shouldn’t know what abandonment or hunger felt like, not at her age. Nicklaus, walking beside me, was unusually quiet, though I could feel the way his energy bristled beside mine, we didn’t say much as we walked through the gravel path I made sure to remember. We arrived at the small, rundown cottage that Bonnie had pointed out earlier, I had hoped to find him there... Bonnie’s father. Part of me prayed he’d be lounging about, with his mistresses, unaware of what was coming. But the place was deep silent. I glanced around. The door hung ajar, swaying gently in the breeze. No sound came from inside. I stepped forward, pushing it open fully. My eyes darted around the room.

Answer. I sent Linden to her dressing room to take pictures of any scars. He was back in an instant because my beautiful and smart mate had already thought of that and took pictures on her own. I growled as I looked at the pictures. They both had scars that ran very deep, like a whip with metal tips. Bonnie’s back and shoulders looked like this had been going on for years. I showed the photos to Evan and Wade, and we all growled at the man as he tried to run. Wade grabbed him before he was able to take three steps. I called some warriors over and told them to take him to the dungeons.

He looked terrified. “Bonnie,” Lena whispered. “Where is she?” Cassidy implored, grasping the woman by the shoulders. “Where is Bonnie?” “Get… Bonnie….” Lena’s face contorted as if the pain had suddenly become overwhelming. Her eyes full of sadness, her lips frozen in a grimace, she took one staggered breath and then faded away. A split second later, Cassidy found herself kneeling by a pile of ashes.

With no knowledge of which way to go, I hit something hard and I black out. The next thing I know I wake up screaming in my bed, I shiver uncontrollably as the dried sweat makes my hair stick to my head. The sheets tangled at the foot of the bed, but my heart beat is already slowing because I’m at home safe and secure from any of those monsters out there in the woods. It was just a nightmare. In all the 17 years of my life, that would have to be the scariest nightmare I have ever had. I know I can’t go back to sleep after having a nightmare like that, so I get my phone out and check the time, its 2 in the morning I still have 5 hours until I have to get up. What am I going to do? I figure I

Then the thoughts began to unfold, but for one reason or the other, the ghostly call was left out. She remembered the last night her mom was around, before traveling.
