My head was swimming. Natalie had admitted she was teasing a little bit about the claiming, but she had explained—a wolf marked their mate, usually. It was something that happened after they’d completed the bond. And apparently, at least for a wolf, it changed their scent so that any other wolf would know that wolf was mated and unavailable.
“He’ll most likely bite your shoulder,” she said flippantly, like that was no big deal. “I mean, I’ve never been marked, obviously, but that’s where most of the females end up scarred.”
