It’s cracked in places, but my reflection stares back at me. Only, it’s not me. A silver wolf stands there, sleek and powerful, eyes glowing emerald and like diamonds, shifting and sparkling in a way that pulls me in deeper than I want. I lift one paw to the glass—and at the exact same moment, the wolf lifts its paw too. The claws scrape softly against the cracked mirror. I’m frozen, unable to look away. This wolf—this thing—feels like a part of me. Or maybe it’s the other way around.

He turned and walked back into the corridor with her, and the mirror didn't react, didn't change, kept doing whatever it had been doing on the terrace with the comfortable ease of someone who believed they were unseen. "What's the tell?" Ryder said in the corridor, low. "The resonance is wrong," she said. "Like a picture of a sound instead of the sound itself. It looks exactly right but it's one layer too clean." She paused. "Real wolves have friction. Small inconsistencies. Mirror carriers are — smoother. Like they're trying very hard to be accurate." "How many more?" She thought. "At least one more on this level," she said. "I need to find the edges of the signature."

The massive wolf stopped in the center of the clearing. It looked at us slowly. Calculating. Then its gaze landed on me. And the energy inside my chest exploded. A wave of golden light burst from my body so violently that everyone around me staggered. The mirror creature howled beside me. Not in pain. In recognition. The giant wolf tilted its head. Studying me. The witch’s voice suddenly echoed through the trees again, filled with cruel amusement. “Magnificent, isn’t it?” Marcus growled. “Enough hiding!”

Author's POV. Mira dash off to the wolf at immense speed and deliver an uppercut to it which caused it to crash hard some meters away. The wolf shifts back in a moment and throws a sharp pointed pole toward her. Mira stepped aside escaping the attack with her fast movement ,she grabbed the pole in mid air and threw it up towards the man. He shifted to his wolf body and tried to leap off very fast but the pole penetrated his belly, blood streamed down his body as they refused to heal up.

My heart pounded at the terror I was about to undergo. I walked through the woods very quickly, and everything became dark, and the moon was up in the sky. Walking forward, I came across a big standing mirror just sitting there. I stood in front of it and heard a whisper. “What a failure you have become.” I looked deep into the mirror and saw my reflection laughing eerily at me while stroking the head of what looked exactly like my wolf. “What are you?” I asked. “I am everything you have fought not to be. I am the darkness and the light. If you are obedient, I will help you out of here, but you have to prove that you have the balls.”

She stumbled backward, tripping over her own feet, her eyes reflecting Snow towering figure. Howllllll Snow threw her head back, unleashing a deafening, blood-curdling howl that echoed across the entire mountain. Mira scrambled backward on her hands and knees, her face completely drained of color. She wanted to transform, her own wolf fighting to come to the surface to save her, but she was too slow. Before she could even begin the shift, Snow's sharp claws landed on her chest.

I chanted harder as the figures became clearer. The mirror showed the entrance of the three brothers pack. My eyes were closed but I could see everything in the mirror perfectly well. Dead wolves were lying everywhere. I clenched my fist, not minding the way my long nails pierced into the palm. In the castle, only a few wolves were left and they looked critically ill and sick. My boldness suddenly changed to fear. I fell over the candles. The mirror immediately went blank. They rushed to me and whispered some chants in my ear.
