The augmented wolves hesitated, their glowing eyes flickering as they followed their handlers into the shadows. When the clearing fell silent, Vivi dropped to her knees beside Lexa once more. Her hands trembled as they brushed against Lexa’s fur, her breath catching in uneven gasps. "You’re okay," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "You’re okay." With a soft whine, Lexa shifted back into her human form, her silver markings faint but steady. Her tearful gaze met Vivi’s, her voice barely above a whisper. "I’m sorry," she choked out.
