With that, Allen turned and walked back through the double doors to the offices. Amerie smiled at Everett and walked over to the wolf. It was as tall as her at the shoulder and stood with its front paws atop a rock. Its facial expression was alert yet calm. The placard in front of the animal stated that wolves had primarily been gone from the region for several decades, but there had been occasional sightings of gray wolves.

At the rushed pace, Rex and his wolves got to the Council Grounds a full day before the rest of the packs, or so they thought. Lady Kitsune, a Council wolf, was waiting for their arrival, greeted them warmly, and showed them where they would be staying for the duration of the Gathering. Wanting to speak with Kitsune alone, Rex ushered Makai and his wolves to go in the house and relax. Taking the hint, Makai ushered the wolves away.

Dean’s POV continued- The cells are usually kept pretty dark. Since the wolves have better night vision it’s not a problem for them, but when we turn the bright spot lights on it sure makes it a lot worse for them too. We keep the observation area dark so the rogue can’t see everyone in the room. I decided not to tell Alec and Zander because, well, I still wanted to have a little fun. We got to the interrogation area and I held up a hand so they knew to hold back a bit, then I gave the signal for the lights. The flinching and barely audibly cursing coming from the wolves? Worth it. It took a second for them to recover and I tried my best to hide my smirk as Alec looked at me.

He was undeterred, matching my stride easily with his longer legs. "You will say yes eventually," he said cheerfully. "How about this, meet me at The Den tomorrow night. It is where the pack socializes. You need to make friends." "I do not need anything from you." I stopped walking and faced him directly. Lucas tilted his head, studying me with those grey eyes that saw too much. "You know, most wolves would jump at the chance to get to know their new... what are we, exactly? Stepbrothers?" He said it mockingly, like the label was a joke.

Stacey. The sound of fists hitting flesh and loud cheers greeted us as we entered the underground arena. It smelled of blood, sweat and wet fur. Wolves stood all around the fighting ring, cheering and booing simultaneously. As we settled on the spot reserved for ranked wolves, Alpha Liam’s lips moved close to my ear. “This is the den,” he told me. I had heard of the existence of this place but never set foot there. “My wolves earn respect and settle scores here.”

It was a sight to behold, witnessing the wolves from both sides come together as one, their spirits intertwined in a shared purpose. A resolute determination radiated from their eyes, a silent vow to protect and safeguard our cherished home. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow upon the land, the wolves gathered in a circle, their bodies forming a united front. They stood tall and proud, their fur glistening in the fading light, a testament to their unwavering loyalty. It was as if they had always been destined to join forces, their instincts guiding them towards this pivotal moment.

A hidden passage revealed itself, the scent of damp stone and lingering smoke wafting up from below. The Den was alive with activity. The cavernous space was lit by the warm glow of scattered fire pits, their flames casting flickering shadows across the walls. Wolves in both human and shifted forms moved about, their voices blending into a low hum of conversation. I kept my head down as I navigated the chaos, avoiding eye contact and steering clear of any groups that looked too interested in newcomers. My anonymity was my greatest asset here, and I had no intention of losing it. At the far end of the Den, a small alcove housed the one wolf I’d come to see: Maelis.

He rarely frequented Wolf’s Den because everything was now in place, so Tyr didn’t have much to worry about. However, Tyr had been traveling to Wolf’s Den quite often lately. Today, Tyr had even been here since morning until late night, never taking a step out of the premises. As night fell, the full moon hung in the sky. In front of Wolf’s Den, two black wolves half as tall as an adult man were howling up at the moon. Owoo!!! The night sky was filled with cries of these black wolves, enhancing the Wolf’s Den’s mysteriousness. At that moment, waves after waves of punching sound continuously reverberated from the shed.

I said but it doesn't feel like what I said was sincere enough. "No. When he's attracted to someone, he won't be seduced by others, not until the one he likes dies." My eyes narrowed because of what Sophie said. That took a very dark turn. "You know, wolves are an incredibly devoted species. They even said that if a Wolf met their mate, they will never find another mate. For short, it's for a lifetime." She said but I don't get what she's talking about. "What was that about?" I was quite scared as I try to comprehend what's going on inside her mind.
