Wolves Notes Novels & Stories

I looked at that photograph for a long time before I set it on the pyre. Reed stood beside me through most of it, which I appreciated because he didn't say anything. He was just there, solid and quiet, and sometimes that was the only thing another person could offer that was worth a damn. When the fire was lit, the pack howled. It started with the elders, low and long, and spread outward through the circle until every wolf in the clearing had their voice in it, two hundred and thirty-one distinct notes braided into one sound that rose above the tree line and into the pale sky and said, without words, “we remember, we remember, we remember.”

“Let the howl of our pack be heard across the land. Tonight, we bring justice to those who have wronged us. Tonight, we rescue Emma.” The wolves let out a collective howl, their voices melding into a symphony of determination. Clyde led the way, his senses attuned to Emma's scent and voice. He could feel her pain intensifying, her pleas growing more desperate. It fueled his urgency, pushing him to move faster, to gather his pack, and embark on the dangerous journey ahead.

His eyes darted from one wolf to another, each one a potential threat, their movements calculated and deliberate. A symphony of tension hung in the air as the unknown wolves circled Sebastian, their eyes gleaming with malicious intent. Their synchronized movements bespoke a deadly precision, an orchestrated dance of calculated aggression. He could feel their hunger, their thirst for dominance, as they waited for the opportune moment to strike.

"Welcome, students. This is the Luna Sphere, a device that will help us determine your rank and wolf type. It's quite simple, really. All you have to do is place your hand on the sphere, and it will detect your energy." She gestured to the computers. "The sphere will send the input to the computers, which will then display your rank and wolf type. Don't worry, it's completely painless and safe." She smiled reassuringly. "Now, I know some of you may be wondering what the different colors mean when you’d touch the ball. Well, let me tell you. The sphere will glow in different colors depending on your wolf power. A higher glow with bright red is normally indicative of an Alpha wolf. Blue is typ

At least not to me, maybe to others. "Wolves use howling to communicate with each other, and trust me when I say it gives you goosebumps." I nodded at Alastor, and just like we planned he started howling. It echoed off everything. It was a deep hollow sound. The females backed up their Alpha and howled with him, but you couldn't hear them over him. The group gasped in surprise and took plenty of photos and videos. I winked at Alastor, and it almost looked like he winked back. I'll have to write that down later.

"I should've never trusted you. Not one day of this marriage." He laughed, actually laughed an ugly, delighted sound, like my heartbreak was the best joke he'd heard all night. "There it is. Figured it out at last." He straightened his jacket, unbothered, as if my world wasn't collapsing three feet away from him. "Here's one more, then. Today doesn't just mark our anniversary. Today I become Alpha of both packs." He said it the way other wolves announce good weather. "So sorry for you, Luna."

Ruby red eyes three of them came searching through the darkness. Taking all the full brunt of his attention, they moved like normal eyes melting from the shadows as three wolves stood in front of them. They were not massive like the size of a horse in fact they were normal other than the glowing eyes. The first two wolves had thick black coats, but one was clearly leaner while one had thick hunches and was pure muscle. Then there was the wolf to the right of the black hair wolves. The coat of this wolf was a deep brown almost black color with venomous green eyes that glitter in the light when the glowing began to fade away. “Jake Storm are you ready to die?” A thick husky voice filled the ai

"I've got something. This way!" But they moved in the wrong direction, following a false trail. Minutes passed that felt like hours. Finally, the voices faded into the distance. Noah waited until he couldn't hear them anymore before moving. He climbed out of the ravine carefully, scanning the area. "We're safe now," he said quietly. "Let's go." He shifted back into his wolf form and lowered himself so Yuna could climb onto his back. She hesitated, then wrapped her arms around his neck. Her bare skin pressed against his fur, and Noah forced himself to focus on getting them back safely.
