I follow suit and take a few striking titles back to the most isolated bench with me. I read as I listen, occasionally peering up and around to see how close this man has advanced. I studied her face. In all the centuries I’d known this woman, I’d never once seen her read anything that wasn’t academic. Science journals and historical texts and research papers dry enough to cure insomnia. She had entire shelves dedicated to old human civilizations and herbal remedies and subjects so boring I fell asleep just looking at the spines.

But she had come with a purpose. Ryleigh walked softly across the floor, her shoes making barely a sound on the smooth wood. Toward the front desk sat an older woman with silvery curls swept into a low bun and a deep maroon cardigan wrapped over a floral blouse. Her delicate hands moved gracefully over a stack of returned books, scanning each barcode before setting them aside. She was humming. A slow, sweet tune—something lullaby-like, wordless and comforting. As Ryleigh approached, the woman looked up and smiled.

The library was a third illustrious and recognizable library in Wicklow for encompassing historical quixotic and idealistic fictions. They pushed the heavy doors open and entered into the reception area inhaling the smell of old books. "Hello, Ms Kate!" It looks like a library but she said it was just a room for books that wasn't for the public to casually buy. I opened some book and saw that it was full of romance stories. 'Action is better.' But what could these romance books have that many women likes to read these? They have the same story anyways. As I was flipping the pages of a book I casually picked up, the woman from the counter earlier went back inside the room holding two thick books. "Sir Jean, I have the books you wanted." "Thank you." "May I ask a question, sir Jean?" I nodded at her question.

Present day. A beautiful woman stood in the library of an ancient castle that had been preserved to this day. She was accompanied by a middle-aged man and his wife. They were talking in serious tones. The library was like an ocean of books, row after row of shelves packed full and reaching almost to the ceiling. The clean marble floor and dust-free books showed how well the place was maintained. “I love this place. It’s incredible, and so spotless,” said the woman with long, flowing hair, her voice smooth and melodic.

The air in the library was thick with the scent of old books and the faint hum of fluorescent lights. Sadile Marconi, her fiery red hair cascading over her shoulders like a river of flames, sat at a secluded table, her green eyes darting between the pages of her textbook and the clock on the wall. The numbers seemed to mock her, ticking away the minutes until her next class, a class she was dangerously close to failing.
