Blood and Betrayal
A place where Toby didn't have to sleep with a gun under his pillow.
"Do you think it’s possible?" Toby asked, looking out over the valley. "A world where we can just be... us?"
I looked at the blueprints in my mind. I saw the violet sparks scattered across the globe, growing brighter every day. I saw the mycelium network spreading beneath the feet of our enemies. I saw a world where the light didn't have to have shadows.
"I'm an architect, Toby," I said, leaning my head on his shoulder. "If the world doesn't exist, we just have to build it."
