Even though he was certain he had cleaned up every trace over the past few days, the fear never left him. That evening, he returned home to find the atmosphere heavy. His son had come back from school in a foul mood, and his wife was openly complaining. Only after pressing them did he learn the truth. His son had been bullied. The boy picked up his backpack, unzipped it, and dumped the contents onto the floor. Dozens of folded notes spilled out. A few landed at Dr. Xavier’s feet. The words scrawled on them made his blood run cold. “Freak.”

I wasn’t sure how many of them enjoyed bullying me or how many of them were like Nina, but all of them looked at me With shock and amazement now. I was still a little shocked myself. Karma sure is a b**ch. As much as most kids that him and his buddies made life miserable for back in high school were happy about what happened to his family, I wasn’t thrilled.
