I shot out a claw, leaning forward, energy flaring on my fingertips. “Would you say that again?” He looked at my claw wearily. I watched him, waiting for him to attempt it. I was ready to send another glaring scar behind his eyes.

“Did you fire them?” “Oh. Actually, they are my friends and not my minions, they just like following me around because I am an alpha, and besides, one of them is not feeling well, so he didn’t come today, while the other is on a date with his mate.” Xavier explained. “Really? This man's face looked rugged and handsome on the surface, but under the surface, his scars revealed darkness and pure evil, like he had no soul.

"Let her go!" Bella’s heart nearly skipped a beat as she turned her head, hoping for salvation. There, standing with a look of cold fury on his face, was Xavier. His eyes locked onto Marshal with an intensity that made Bella’s breath catch in her throat. She had never been more relieved to see anyone in her life.
