He sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping in defeat. “It's just… things are complicated right now,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I don't want to burden you with my problems.”
I shook my head, refusing to let him push me away. “You're not burdening me, Xander,” I insisted, my voice firm with determination. “We're partners, remember? We're in this together, regardless of what.”
A flicker of emotion crossed his features, and for a moment, I saw the vulnerability hidden beneath his Stoic exterior. “I know,” he murmured, pulling me into his embrace. “I just… I don't know how to fix it.”
