Xavier (furious): “Guards! Lock down the terrace!” Elder 2 (panicked): “Aldren just—vanished?!” Blythe (furious): “He shadow-stepped. There was a second mark on him—he’s a trained Umbra.” Ceres (hands shaking, pressing to Lafay’s wound): “Why would you—why would you do this?” Lafay (barely breathing): “Because… you’re the only Queen… who asked what truth cost…” Xavier (voice cracking):

She curled into him, her head on his shoulder, her hand resting over the steady, powerful beat of his heart. The eclipse bond had forced them together. But this, this fragile peace in the aftermath, this was their choice. Aurora looked up at the slowly brightening sky, then at the demon whose arms held her. “The next eclipse is in three months,” she said, her voice quiet. Xandros looked down at her, at the wolf he was now bound to in ways he was only beginning to comprehend. He brushed a strand of sweat-damp hair from her forehead. “I know,” he said. A slow smile touched his lips, a genuine one, devoid of mockery or malice. “I’ll be waiting.”

Then he looks away. “Xaden,” he mutters. I nod once. “We both know he’s the rightful Alpha to the throne.” The words sound more like justification than truth. “And you leaked the Northern Passage to him?” His throat bobs. “Yeah.” He looks down at the floor. “And you shouldn't blame me because I spent years trying to stand beside you and actually be seen,” he says bitterly. “Xaden found me three years ago. Not the other way around. He knew exactly what I was to you.”

While the healers were tirelessly doing the best they could for dad, I also had to do my part while relying on suppressants. After a while, I smiled in resignation. Blaze could seduce anyone so effortlessly. But then again, it should not be surprising anymore. He got even the queen of mages wrapped around his fingers, a testament of how much of a player he was. “What’s that smile for?” I swirled the wine in my glass, pretending I didn’t just press my thighs together. “Just thinking that it must be nice to be you, General. It must be nice to get everything you want.”

William stares at me and smiles. "He went that way," he points out, looking rather happy that I'm chasing Darius down. I go in the direction he said, and he follows at a distance. I stop at Darius' office and walk in. "Xenia, you said this is inappropriate, and now you're following me?" “I, Xenia Athena Thornblade of the Mooncrest Pack, reject you, King Darius, Isaiah Blackthorn of the Celestial Monarchy Pack.” I hear Winter copying my words and repeating them with her name.

The three beastmen watched them shift blame to each other, exchanged glances, and said, "Since neither of you wants to do it, we'll deal with both of you together." With that, Leo approached Mother with a rope in hand. Mother's face was ashen, but her peripheral vision suddenly caught sight of me. Her eyes lit up as she pointed at me and shouted, "Take her! She's my daughter. It's only natural for her to take my place!" The three beastmen and I were momentarily stunned by her shamelessness. Felix looked at her with amusement. "She's also your daughter. How is it that you don't seem to care about her at all?"

Xaden's pov "It's gone." Xavier said, as soon as the study door closed behind him. He extended one that looked exactly like it to me. "You sure?" I asked. "Aye, Khaun." He answered. I smiled. I had set a trap and she had fallen for it. My hand snuck into the pocket of my breeches, as I stroked the blunt part of the Mirror Blade. "She fell for it." I spurted. "We are not sure she took it." Xavier answered.

Because if I wasn’t ready now—after everything I’d been through—then when would I be? I closed my eyes again, but this time I wasn’t trying to breathe or center myself. I was reaching—mentally clawing through every memory, every word, every silence. Nyx had said something. Something about betrayal. About being abandoned. And she spoke Kaden’s name with venom, but Xena’s with something colder. Emptier. Like the hate had burned itself out and left only ash. And then it hit me. Not a full picture, but a crack in the frame—something terrible must have happened between the three of them. Something that twisted their loyalties and buried their love under layers of guilt, rage, and silence.

Not really in the best condition to deal with a disappointed alpha who has been kind of giving me the cold shoulder for months now and for all I know the alpha will be giving me stink eyes throughout the whole time, unless I confess to Xenia. “Where did Draco go?” Xenia looked around the market place a visible pout on her face when she didn’t find her best friend. “Probably went back I guess, let’s not fret over it.” “You’re right…anyways stand here, I’ll distribute this flowers among the kids and come back. They would really love them.” She said giggling and a content expression on her face. “But didn’t you say you would make them into crowns? Did I hear wrong?”
