"I love you, mom." I could hear dad yelling in the background. "I love you, too, dad. Talk to you later." Clicking my phone off, I wandered back to my room upstairs to read a couple of chapters in my latest novel. It didn't seem very long after I got swept up in The Hobbit before my phone was ringing once again. It seems I'm just getting increasingly popular these days. "Hello?" I called out as I put my phone on speaker. A hushed voice whispers over the phone, "Ciprian?"

Then the phone went silent for a second. “Hello?” I asked, thinking we may have gotten disconnected. “Sorry, I thought Haley just broke my mom’s favorite vase,” she said. “Anyway, you should come. I’ll see you soon, okay? Hey, Hayley—” She hung up as she shouted to her other friend, not giving me a chance to say no. Within thirty minutes, I was at her house with a drink in hand. “I’m so glad you’re here,” Needy said. “I know we have a lot of classes together, but I still feel like I don't get to see you anymore. And I really am sorry about trying to hook you up when you weren't ready. That was stupid of me.”

For some reason only one song is on my mind though. “Old souls come lay doooown and sigh, give me your worries, give me your jooooys…” I laugh at myself, remembering when I’d sang that song at camp, to get out of a tricky spot. Alpha camp seriously feels like another lifetime ago, like a dream almost. Only that I left there with my fated mate and several lifelong friends. So it was definitely real. Harley and I are actually good friends and we all visit each other every few years.

Jake nods slowly. “Innocent,” he says. “Old business friends. Nothing more.” I save the image, every version. I stand. Legs are stiff. “I need to show Vorian,” I say.

Damon laughed, “Really, well you still look the same. You still look like a teenager who’s willing to cry over ice cream.” “Oh come on, can’t we just forget about that?!” they both laughed. “Uh-hum! Looks like someone hasn’t introduced this oh-so-handsome and hot man here?” Alice, one of Eris’s best friends suddenly said. “O-Oh, I’m so sorry guys. All his life, he's only had people who approached him for his money, like Jacob, Dave and Sam. They only used to hang out with him, so he pays for expensive alcohol bottles.
