My chest caught every breath. My lip was split. I wasn't new to this. It wasn't my first time to be beaten. And it sure as hell wasn't my first time being here. But this was the first time Aaron was being the one to pass judgement. I sucked on the split. My lip burner as I tasted iron. Minutes passed. Hours even. I had no idea. It's hard to tell when the lights never changed. That was the point. Break the body. Then the mind. I leaned back against the wall and closed my eyes.

But. I was still hoping I guess, that we would be able to work it out. I couldn't hate him, even when I had every reason to. After all, he was the only man I had ever loved. And he was the only man I was going to love. Because the heart is a bitch, you can't make it understand by reasoning with it. It forgets all the hurt someone caused you, all the pain, all the misery. It only remembers those moments when someone made you breathless. Over and over, it just runs toward one person. And unfortunately for me, that one person was Landon.

Swiftly flicking his cigarette, he forcefully turned the steering wheel in the opposite direction, causing the car to spin in circles around the girl. On the other side, Hiya, with her heart pounding, witnessed a black Mercedes approaching rapidly. Overwhelmed with fear, she clasped her hands over her ears and shut her eyes tightly, anticipating an imminent tragedy. His eyes were red. Glossy as if he was having inner battles. His face was covered in sweat like if he had run a marathon. And, his heartbeats raised repeatedly that even she could feel the thumping sound of his heart. “ what happened to you ?” she gasped, looking at his horrified self.

“Kayson Yarde… Are you the same Kayson who killed Zeus?” Kayson remained calm, but his expression was tainted with a tinge of surprise. He had already been described by someone in this manner a few times. Zeus Yankovich was Steelification Doyen. He had not expected that his reputation would grow so much after he killed Steelifcation Doyen at the Allen Mansion. “My defeat is not pointless… Besides, I wouldn’t have taken you seriously even if I had known it was you in advance…” He had not had the slightest idea that Kayson would stun him with the Titanium Leo-roar.

Alexander took her face in both hands, forcing her to look at him. "The steel is what makes you strong enough to protect him, Elena. She walked out of the boardroom and down the hall to the private quarters. The "Iron Fortress" security had been moved into the Spire’s apex, a room within a room, guarded by the Protector himself.

My core flared in defiance, pushing back against him, but I was too weak to stabilize it. Tears streamed down my face. My life flashed before me. I twisted, thrashed, and jerked, not willing to give up. “Pl…Please help…help me, moon goddess,” I gurgled, choking under his grip. His arrogance made him careless. My core didn't glow, instead, it went unnoticed through my arm down to my palm, extending into an ancient Valerian steel. Before he could realize what was going on, I drove the steel deep into his chest. So deep I felt it tear through muscles and tendons, cracking his sternum to his heart.

Ryan stood there with one hand pressed against his cheek, staring at me in disbelief. In his eyes, I had always been the gentle one—soft-spoken, calm, the kind of woman who would never raise her voice or raise a hand at anyone. Least of all him. Ryan had always floated through life, the golden son who never heard the word no. No one had ever dared to defy him. So what if a life was lost along the way? To him, Olivia's life mattered more.

My legs told me to run, but I stayed rooted, caught between fear and fascination. The bike slowed, then stopped just a few feet away. The rider pulled off his helmet, shaking out dark hair. Broad shoulders, leather jacket, jeans torn at the knee. A scar slashed across his jawline, making him look even harder, sharper. “Road’s no place for a girl alone this late,” he said, voice rough like gravel. My pulse jumped. “I’m fine,” I blurted, though the crack in my voice betrayed me. He studied me, eyes sharp and unflinching. “Name’s Blake. You lost?”
