I dialed Nicholas’ number. I needed his help more now than I ever had in my entire life, but he didn’t answer. I tried it again, but this time, it was sent to voicemail so I tried Brandon. I was surprised when he didn’t answer because as far as I knew, he always had his phone on him. For both of them to be silent it meant something was wrong. My heart hammered as I conjured up every possible worst-case scenario. They could’ve encountered an accident on their way back. They could be hurt.

The caller didn’t pick up or return the call I called twice and got no response.
