There it was, the first real one. and I held on tight.

The first timer… Had only been a test. The real one had just started. And this time… There were only seconds left.

My whole body felt weak. The design was not complete yet. And for the first time since the round began I felt myself losing.

Three and a half weeks. I reached out and placed my hand gently over hers, grounding us both in the moment. And I whispered the only thing I could think to say. “We’ve got this.” Even if I wasn’t totally sure how.

And for the first time in my life I meant it. With every damn piece of me.

Truthfully, half of my stay here on earth was spent looking out for her, exploring places and spying on little girls – hoping for one particular ginger that will soon end up as her. I caressed her cheeks, smiling bitterly because all I want to do is kick myself in the past for being so stupid as to not notice that it was her – the girl in my dreams. I wanted to return back to the very first moment we met. I should’ve treat her better.

She was captivated by the commentary and the cheers of the audience. She even wondered if yesterday's miracle could happen again. She wondered if the opponent could turn the tables in the hands of Blindstrike before the last second of the game. Unfortunately, miracles did not favor every team. Blindstrike took the lead in the first half of the first round. There were obvious disheartened sighs from the audience behind.

Being in the forefront in his body is odd as the weight of him settles with me but I push past the odd changes I feel so that I can speak to her. “I am not upset,” I say as I speak into her mind.. The words to describe what I am feeling are difficult to find as she looks at me with confusion. With everything that has happened with my first shift I feel a sense of freedom that I have not found since I sank my teeth into her neck. Now that it has officially happened I have to admit that I am at a loss. It changes things. The look of confusion on her face has me nudging her away from me.
