He wasn't just a monster; he was a boy burdened by a curse, desperately trying to maintain control. The fear that had gripped my heart began to recede, replaced by a surge of compassion. She was worried, she looked very worried but she was not surprised enough. “You’re not a monster,” she said more seriously. “I don’t care what voice you heard or what colour your eyes decided to become today. You are still you.” “How do you know?” “Because you’re standing here terrified that you might hurt people. Monsters usually don’t lose their shit wondering whether they’re monsters.”
