Not to end up like my mother, or even Luther. They are immortal, everyone knows that, but what most people don't know is that they're not really living a life. Their entire life is about traitors, ups and downs, and not being able to trust even the people surrounding them. Imagine living a life in which you’re not feeling safe even while surrounded by your closer ones. That's not how I am picturing myself, that’s not how I’m picturing my life… the reason why I wasn’t regretting it when I decided to turn myself into the monster my own people hate the most, only to be able to escape those people.

Don't tell me that these guys don't have everything that's coming to them. Shamira and Henry stared each other down. Shamira had killed a man, and it frightened her how relatively easy it had been to get over it. It was a slippery slope between justice and chaos, and she'd seen what happens when that line blurred. "You can make me a vampire," she replied coldly, "but you won't make me a monster." "We're not monsters, Shamira. We're just trying to survive in a sometimes brutal world that has different rules and laws than you're used to. You might want to take a look around before you condemn us all."

I yelled and she smirked, shaking her hands negatively. “It doesn't sound alarming to me. As a matter of fact, I think I've warned you that you're going to be the one to kill him so why does it sound surprising?” I took a few steps back and fell to my knees. “No! No, I don't want that to happen. Please, you have to help me.” I pleaded as fear gripped me. What if I lost control of myself and my humanity one day and suddenly became this monster that goes on rampage? How could I ever get to live with that?

I felt his damp lips against my ear, his body pressed to mine. "They weren’t people, little squirrel," he whispered softly. "It’s exactly as you said—there are only monsters in this room, and you are the only one clean enough with the right to punish these monsters." "Even being monsters, they still have a story, a life," I said, trying to cling to a foolish oath where I should value life and help people. "I wouldn’t be different from them if I didn’t value those small things." "That’s true, but you mustn’t put the life of someone like these people above your own." Those words struck me like lightning.

We both knew one day this was coming so maybe it's better to end it now when we are at the beginning of the road still, maybe it will hurt less, maybe he could always stay as this beautiful little moment in my life that stole my breath away. He claims he is a monster, but how could a monster look at me this way? How could a monster be so soft and tender in the way he held me last night, like he wanted to take all of my pain away? Maybe he is a monster outside that door, but he would've never been that with me. Based on what happened today, I am more than sure that he needs to be a monster in his life in order to survive. I would only hold him back. This is for the best. It's for the best.
