She closed her eyes, reached inward, and pushed her will through the bond between them.
The door clicked open.
Inside, the air was heavy with the scent of old parchment and lavender smoke. Candles hovered midair in dreamlike suspension, their flames flickering violet-blue. Books lay scattered across the table. Diagrams of soul-marks, sketches of glowing threads, torn pages from ancient texts written in languages she didn’t know how to read—but somehow could feel in her bones.
And there, at the center of it all, sat Lucan.
