He moves instinctively, pinning Jesse to the table, mere inches from the ground before he can regain his footing. One hand locks around Jesse’s wrist, forcing it down and away, while the other drives into his shoulder to keep him from twisting free.
“Drop it,” Jax growls, his voice low and edged with something dangerous I’ve never heard from him before.
Jesse fights against him. I focus on him again, my gift allowing me to see that even his struggle to break free is born from two conflicting desires. The stronger one is to finish what he started, but the second is an underlying fear.
