I say, hoping Elliot is pulling my chain like he did with the bear spray, but he doesn't look back or laugh this time.
A tiny gray bunny, one that couldn't be older than adolescence and probably born in the spring, hops on the trail in front of Elliot. He stops, and I almost run into his backend, too mesmerize with the furry animal. The bunny stops in the middle of the trail and cocks his head in our direction, its nose twitching. Then, even though neither of us move, the bunny hops the other way crashing through the wilderness to the other side of the trail.
"Did you see?" Elliot asks pointing to the empty space.
