He replied. I sat up fully, pulling the sheets around me as I turned to face him. "Money is fleeting. It can be given, it can be taken away. No amount of money you give me will ever make me truly untouchable. But power? The right kind of power? That’s what makes a person unstoppable. It’s what makes people bow when you walk into a room, what keeps your name untarnished, what ensures that no one, no man, no law, no circumstance can dictate your life."

A voice that was only raised to match the crescendo of a demanding choir. And yet, it held command. Behind it was a reality that everything bowed in its wake. An authority that all obeyed not because they wanted to, but because they didn’t possess the power not to. The power it came with wasn’t the kind that was given. It was the kind that was taken.
