I whisper, voice hoarse. Lucian doesn’t respond. He doesn’t even blink. “He’s not coming back,” I try again, softly. “It’s over.” Still nothing. But then I say the only word that matters. “Seris.” Lucian’s head snaps up. Without a word, he turns and starts walking toward the cave, his every step heavy with grief and fatigue. The others follow, limping, bloodied, broken—but alive. We enter the cave together. Spellfire flickers across the damp stone walls, casting long shadows. At the center lies Seris, her body encircled by glowing runes etched into the earth. The symbols pulse like a heartbeat, their glow eerie and relentless.

"The localized dark rift is expanding. Our standard energy dampeners aren't holding it. We might need to evacuate the coastal settlement." Serena didn't panic. She closed her eyes, taking a deep, rhythmic breath. As she inhaled the crisp sea air, a sudden, brilliant flash of golden light ignited deep within her iris, accompanied by a soft, silver-white aura that enveloped her hands. Selene moved carefully through them. She had begun searching for any information about Aria’s past. But there was almost nothing. No records of her birth. No known family. No clan. Nothing. Which only made Selene more suspicious. She pulled another scroll from the shelf and unrolled it slowly. Her eyes scanned the faded ink. And then she froze. A symbol had been drawn in the margin. A small mark. A curved shape surrounded by thin lightning-like lines. Selene’s breath caught. She had seen that symbol before.
