I find Sarah and sign, "Will you help them on the bed, one at a time?" She helps Macy first and she constricts my right side. I whimper in pain with the added pressure to my ribs. Macy jumps back, sobbing uncontrollably. "Tell her I'm sore and that it's okay," I sign to Sarah as pain filled tears roll down my cheeks. "She's okay Macy, just a little sore," Sarah chokes quietly. "When are you coming home Daddy? Mommy hasn't been home either," she chokes quietly. "Soon," Sarah translates. "Once I'm healed enough to get out of bed and breathe on my own."

Tomorrow is gonna be very difficult for all of us. I just went to bed again.

I asked, my frustration evident as I peeled off my wet shirt and threw it into the dryer. "Who was the girl who helped me?" my mother's voice pierced through the tense air, her words hanging heavy with expectation. I stood there, stunned by her question. At that moment, I felt a torrent of emotions rushing through my veins. Anger, resentment, and a deep sense of betrayal coursed through me like a raging river. How could she ask about the girl, someone who had shown me kindness and compassion, when she had caused so much pain in my life?
