"This wasn't the deal," Reid whispered. His breathing was erratic as he pressed his back against the wall, clenching his fists. "We could make a new one," Killian smirked, trailing his thumb on Reid's lips... "Probably after this kiss." ~~ Bad boy Reid McKenzie will go to jail after being charged with murder. His mother wouldn't be willing to help him; he has ruined their reputation enough and is ready to let him rot behind bars; following the wishes of her second husband, she would wash her hands of Reid for good. But fate intervenes when a mysterious stranger, Killian appears. He offers Reid a deal; Freedom in exchange for a dangerous task. However, Killian's true intentions are far from benevolent. As a powerful demon, he sees Reid as a pawn in a sinister game. With each passing moment, Reid must decide whether to trust the enigmatic stranger or face the consequences of his actions.
View More"There he is..." I shouted, entering the classroom and I strolled over to the blonde-haired guy along with my two friends. "I see you seem to be forgetting about our little deal," I said and stopped at his desk.
"Please, Reid, we can talk things out," He whispered, but I acted as if I didn't even hear him. I took his course book, glancing at it as though reading its content, and then pronounced his name. "Thaddeus," I smirked glancing at his scaredy face. "Should Thaddeus be disobedient?" I asked his seatmate, whose wish was visible on his face, for me to get out of their class, but that wouldn't be happening anytime soon. I needed to teach a liar a lesson. "No—no." "Good. You might as well get your ass outta here." I ordered and Thaddeus seatmate immediately obeyed. "Reid---" I didn't allow Thaddeus to complete his statement when I hit his head on the desk with force, and his classmates all made a surprised gasp. "Do you want to take the punishment instead?" I heard Dylan ask and the class went silent. "Looks like none of them likes you..." I smirked in satisfaction seeing that Thaddeus already broke his nose. "Please, Reid. I promise it was a mistake; I didn't mean to go against you." Thaddeus pleaded. "I had asked nicely you know..." I spoke softly tapping the back of his head. God, I could feel his heartbeat even from his head. "You should've known better than to cross me, Thaddeus. As a department leader, you're supposed to recognize the consequences of betraying someone like me. So pitiful." I spoke with a hint of disdain, my hand closing around his hair, twisting it sharply and Thaddeus gasped painfully. "I'd be gentle," I whispered, my voice dripping with menace. Then, with a swift motion, I slammed Thaddeus' head onto the desk, the sound echoing through the room. His classmates' muffled screams followed. I bet the noise could be heard in some departments. I brought Thaddeus' face to me... A sly grin spread across my face, seeing how much I was ruining his face, which had already turned pink with a trace of blood in his nose. He's no different from me after all; at least his victims will begin to call me a hero. "Just one more," I say tightening my hold on his hair again. I could bet he wasn't going to survive this time. "What's going on there!" Someone shouted from the hallway. "Shit." I cussed, releasing Thaddeus' hair at once. "We gotta go..." Dylan said as we hurried away from the classroom. "Why are you roaming around?" The professor asked as he watched us walk towards him after leaving Thaddeus's department. "Sorry..." My other friend muttered an apology as we walked past him. ••• I got home early that day, as college seemed boring without my best friend, Alvin present. He had been sick for a while now, at least after we got into a small fight, and I hadn't even checked up on him; I should do that today since I had already caused trouble and would be given a suspension. I walked into the big house owned by my mother, but now it's my stepfather's property; Mrs. Ashwood had willed it to him on their tenth wedding anniversary. "I'm back!" I announced dryly as I walked over to the staircase. "Reid!" Mrs. Ashwood shouted, and I stopped on my track, glancing at her. She was holding a phone when she appeared before me, her hair in a mess, probably making dinner for her family as I rarely joined them at dining because of her and her husband. Even though I had a good relationship with my stepbrother, Abel. I still didn't feel like a family while with them. My mother and Mr. Ashwood's marriage would never be accepted by me. "What?" I asked sternly. "It was the college professor who just called me." My mother began slowly, and I rolled my eyes, knowing they already reported me to her. When would Godwin College professors learn to know that my mother had no control over me? "Did they tell you I almost killed a sucker today again?" I asked sarcastically. "Will you please be decent for once!" "Shouldn't Abel's decency be enough for you?" I uttered. "Not for me, but for your Father! Do you think he will be glad to see you getting expelled for being such an asshole!" "Not again..." I whispered under my breath. "For God's sake let him be at rest---" "Rest my foot!" I spat interrupting her. "Isn't while he was still in sickbed you got engaged to your second husband?" I fired. "Either of us, you're the one to be blamed if he's not happy up there!" "What's going on?" I heard Mr. Ashwood's voice from the staircase. When did he appear? I rolled my eyes at him as I walked out of the house, hearing my mother starting to whimper; her husband could comfort her. I hopped in my car as I pulled out of the curb driving away furiously. Now you know why I don't join dinner... This is a good time to sleep over at Alvin's place. I thought as I continued driving. It took over twenty minutes to arrive at Alvin's place. Fortunately, he lived alone except when his girlfriend came to visit him. I parked my car and walked over to Alvin's apartment. I stopped to knock, but there wasn't a response, and I allowed myself in after noticing the door was left unlocked. "Hey, bruv," I called as soon as I stepped into the living room. "Christ, why's here dark?" I mumbled switching on the light. "Reid..." I heard the faint voice call me, and when I lowered my head, I saw Alvin lying in his own pool of blood on the floor, his neck bleeding. "Holy hell! Alvin..." I called as I rushed over to my friend. "What the hell happened?" I asked feeling my heart begin to pound. "Will---" Alvin's voice was so low that I could barely hear him this time. "Stay with me, I'm gonna call an ambulance," I said in one breath as I tried to find my phone. Geez... Did I leave it in my car? "Fuck, Alvin, Alvin!" I called, but Alvin wasn't responding; his head that was on my lap slowly slid away, and I could feel my best friend breathless already. "Fuck, Alvin!" I shouted again frantically, my hand and white T-shirt soaked with his blood. Then, before I knew it, there were police sirens wailing.I was walking on the sidewalk of the pedestrian road. Mr. Vampire was probably behind me, he had remained the same when we were on our way to the house—walking behind me like a goddamn guard.I didn't care anyway. It was better being seen with someone like him—yet, where are we even going?I stopped on my track and exhaled before turning to him. As expected, his hands were tucked into his pocket, his emerald green eyes staring boringly at me."Where are we heading to?" I asked flatly."I have somewhere to be at before we go back to my place." He responded taking a step forward to me. "Or do you have somewhere else to be?" He asked, a bit sarcastically, before walking away."But—don't you have a car or something?" I shouted but he didn't even budge. Was trekking a thing for vampires?Ah, shit!I continued walking—now being the one behind him, my eyes fixed on him.He had a broad back, I wonder how muscular he would be without clothes on. He looked thirty-five on our first meeting; righ
"Aren't you going to enter?" I asked, still behind Reid, who had been staring at the house before us.He turned to me. "I told you we didn't have to come here." He said."Are you going to tell me what to do?""Or what?" He scoffed. "You saved me, yet I'm going to repay it. You don't have to command me around like some fuckin errand boy, and I'm not willing to go into that house if it's on your order!"I breathed out. I tucked my hand into my pocket and I began taking a step forward; he wasn't willing to move, standing his ground and staring at me as though he was ready to punch my face.He had refused to come here—his family house where he lived as well. I didn't care why he refused, but he needed to see for himself that he was freed and he owed me his life and would be willing to do all I asked him to. I stopped a few steps away from him—lowering my head to meet his stern looks that obviously meant nothing but a weak mortal trying not to look weak.Reid definitely was the right choi
We were seated at the dining table, and the sound of our cutlery meeting with the plate was the only noise in the room.Emilia wouldn't stop staring at Reid—he wouldn't quit staring at her either almost as though they were beginning to flirt with each other."How did you know I was here?" I took the piece of steak to my mouth."I heard from the others. You'd be staying here for the time being, I thought you could use my help." She replied before taking a glimpse at the mortal across her. She smiled at him. "I hope you're enjoying your meal?""Of course..." He responded. "You made this? Damn, it tastes so good.""Uh, not exactly. But yeah, I helped with it." Lia replied."Ahh, yeah... What would a pretty lady like you be doing in a kitchen.""Oh, you're so funny!" Lia chuckled. "I heard your name is Reid.""What else could fit a handsome boy like me..." He chimed in. "Could you grant me the honor to know your name, pretty—""Speak again, and you're mute for the night." I cut in before
"What are you doing..." I paused seeing a smirk appear on his face. How dare he!No one had ever given me an attitude as this stranger was beginning to do. Standing all tall and mighty, hands tucked into his pocket, watching me as though I was some helpless shit at his mercy—which was true though."I guess you already made up your mind." He started, leaning away from the wall."I haven't said the word.""And you have three seconds to..." He paused, and I could feel him run his eyes on me.God, I wanted to punch that proud smirk away from his face. I hated the way he stared at me."What would you gain by having me freed?" I asked. There was a hint of sarcasm in my voice.Having kept eye contact with him seemed to be making me feel helpless, and I wanted to look away, but still, I couldn't! He should be terrified of me, not the other way.Shit! Had being in jail affected me this much?First, a detective accuses me of murdering my friend; now, this weirdo in a black cloak is staring at m
As realistic as that looks, there was no way that was real. No bloody way he did that. I thought as I settled on the floor leaning my back against the wall. It's been close to three days that I've been here, in this messed up cell, but no one has even paid a visit to me. When I saw that green-eyed freak, I thought he was a lawyer. But turned out he was just a magician. My thought suddenly drifted to when I had been with him. How quiet the city had been, God... Did it feel good to be finally out of here? I've missed my life.I rested my head on my arms, my eyes stung and I blinked rapidly. It would be so weak of me to cry.I don't want to be looking so haggard or helpless with the officers or cellmates.I clenched my fist as I tried hard again not to remember what Detective Garfield, the man who had ordered my arrest, told me.•"Your fingerprints were discovered on the knife used to kill Alvin. How do you explain this evidence?" The detective had asked and I only watched him with noth
It's night already... At least a little bit peaceful. I would have just teleported, but my powers are weak, and I can't do so much for now except walk amongst this crowd, my black dress different from their overly designed clothes, but do they care?I stopped at the front of a police station after walking for a while, glancing at it. Now all I have to do is find someone who is in dire need of help. We demon help mortals, but we receive more from them.I closed my eyes and everything around me stopped moving, yes. I need concentration. The air around me suddenly seemed intense and wild. Evidence that I was connected already.Okay, there are too many corrupt mortals right here, and they all seem to have given up to fate, I told myself, unable to find anybody who seemed to help. Maybe I should just visit the hospital.I was about to open my eyes when I felt the presence. Of course, a corrupt mortal who wanted help. It did seem like he was being accused of something...I tightened my clos
