Before her hand could touch me, I caught her wrist mid-air, gripping it so tightly that she winced and gasped.

“You’re fired,” I ground out coldly, letting the words fall one after the other. “Effective immediately.”

Her mouth opened and closed like a squawking bed.

“I don’t tolerate opportunists and women who don’t respect themselves,” I continued, my voice low. “Not in my company and most definitely not in my office. Go get your things and get the hell out.”

“Wait, what?” she finally stammered, her eyes wide. “Mr. Miller, I was just trying to please you. I...I didn’t mean to offend—”

“You did,” I cut in. “And I don’t want to hear excuses. If you’re not out of this building in the next ten minutes, I’ll have security throw you out onto the street.”

Her face twisted, panic settling into her features. “What about my severance pay?”

I scoffed.

“You want severance for working two months?” I shook my head. “You should be grateful I’m letting you walk away quietly. Don’t push me, Comfort.

  • Oops! I Left With The CEO's Heart   Chapter 58

By the time we pulled up into the driveway of the Richards Residence, they were all already outside waiting: Emma's parents, Alden and Luisa, and her older brothers, Max and Miles.Emma didn't wait for the car to come to a full stop. She was out before the engine even quieted, rushing toward her family like she'd been holding herself back for too long. Her arms wrapped tightly around her father.I watched my uncle Alden's face carefully. The man I remembered always looked sharp and commanding in a quiet, respectable way. Now, his posture was more curved, his body thinner, and when he blinked, his eyes shimmered with tears. I'd never seen Alden cry even once.Emma moved next to her mother, wrapping her in a soft hug. My aunt Luisa held her like someone she'd feared wouldn't come home.Beside them, Emma's oldest brother Max's voice rose in mock offense. "What, we don't get hugs?""Yeah, Emma, we haven't seen you in months," Miles added with a grin.Emma let out a soft chuckle and pulled

ALEX"Is everything set for the flight back? Are all the documents taken care of like I asked?" I asked my personal assistant over the phone."Yes, sir," Harry replied promptly. "Flight clearance secured. Customs forms processed. Immigration’s ready at both ends. We’re good.""Good."There was a pause, then Harry’s voice returned hesitantly. "Mr. Miller, are we really just leaving like this? We still haven’t rescheduled the meeting with the minister, and that guy is more than pissed. He’s going to make things more difficult for Miller Enterprises. If we walk away now—""I don’t give a flying fuck about the minister right now," I cut in. "And I never said we were leaving. You are staying back to sort things out.""Sir—"I didn’t let him finish. I hung up. I knew he was right and the minister could make things difficult for the company in the Spanish market, but it felt like a small price to pay for being able to be there for Emma and the kids.Getting out of the car, I stepped up to Em

ALEX“I’m going back home.”Silence settled over the room like a heavy fog after Emma's words. I stared at her, sure that I was misinterpreting her words. It was Celia who cleared her throat softly and broke the silence. “Yes… of course, Emma. You should go and be with your father. Then we can come back after he's cured.”I thought that would be the end of it. But Emma shook her head.“No. I’m really going home, Celia,” she said again, slower this time. “I should’ve never stayed away from them this long. There’s nothing holding me here.”From the corner of my eye, I caught Stefano’s expression flickering like someone had just slapped him.Emma turned toward him, as if realizing her words. “Stefano, I didn’t mean it like that.”“It’s okay,” Stefano replied, trying to smile. “I know what you mean.”I stayed silent because I didn't know how to feel about this. This was what I had wanted; for Emma to come back home with the kids. I just never imagined that decision would come from her pai

The silence that followed felt deafening.I threw the phone onto the couch and sank down slowly beside it, my legs giving out beneath me. My arms rested on my knees, but my fingers clenched and unclenched like they didn’t know what to do with themselves.Stefano had been standing a few feet away all this while. I’d almost forgotten. He crouched down in front of me, his hands hovering between wanting to touch me and not sure if he should.“Emma…” His voice was soft. “What’s going on? What did your mother say? Who’s…” He trailed off, staring at my face. “Who’s dying?”I couldn’t answer. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.The sobs hit before I even realized they were forming. I buried my face in my hands as my body shook.“Hey, hey…” Stefano leaned closer, alarmed. “Emma, please… you have to say something. You know I can’t stand seeing you like this.”I didn’t respond. I couldn’t. I could barely breathe through the sobs.“Unbelievable,” Alex’s voice cut in like a blade. “I leave he

EMMA“Your father has cancer.”The words echoed in my head like they were foreign. They sounded like something that didn’t belong in the conversation I was having with my parents.I let out a short, incredulous chuckle. “What are you talking about, Mum? Is this some kind of prank?”Growing up, my mum was excellent at pranking us and my dad. That had to be it.There was a pause on the other end. And then her voice croaked, “Do you really think I’m capable of joking about something like this?”My lips parted, but I didn’t know what to say.No. No, of course she wasn’t capable of that. My mother never pranked us with serious matters. And that was exactly why I was more confused. Why was she starting now?Unless she wasn’t joking.A tight pressure wrapped around my throat, making it hard to breathe. “So… you’re being serious?” I asked, the words scraping out of me.Her silence told me everything before she even spoke.“I wish that wasn't the case, sweetheart.”I stumbled back a step, my g

I stared at Stefano, caught off guard by the sharpness in his tone. He’d never spoken to me like that before, with such bitterness. But almost immediately, he seemed to realize it himself. “Fuck, I'm sorry,” he said, running a hand over his face. “I shouldn’t have said it like that. It’s just... that guy infuriates me.” He looked away, his jaw clenching. “Yesterday, before I left, he challenged me. He told me I would only continue to be in your and the kids' life if he allowed it.” “What?” My spine straightened. “He said that to you?” “Yes,” Stefano replied, his eyes finding mine again. “I know we’re not technically dating, Emma. But even so, he doesn’t have the right to make those kinds of declarations.” I blinked, finally realizing where Stefano's bitterness was coming from. Alex had thrown that challenge at him only for me to go out all day with him and the kids. My jaw tightened. “I didn’t know, Stefano.” “You do now, Emma,” Stefano said. “But what do you plan to do about i
