KANE’S POV

I looked at the men I was supposed to lead as a king, the man I was supposed to help whenever trouble occurred. Like this trouble, and yet, they were the ones who brought trouble to us.

How in the Goddesses name am I supposed to protect people like these. Already the humans knew who we were, and it was not by mistake. It was because one of us revealed the truth to them.

I do not know what in history taught them that humans reacted well to change or something they did not know or understand. The witches of Salem, I thought that story would have taught them something.

Clearly not, right now I was not even angry for what they did but I felt sorry for them instead. Because of them, our kind could be extinct.

Not because of humans, but because of us, our carelessness, and our disregard for what is important. We did not hide because we wanted to because we wanted to remain anonymous.
