Xeros POV

I stopped in my tracks as I took a moment to survey the open space in the forest. I had lost track of Ryan, the traitor who belonged to the enemy’s pack. He had come into my pack pretending to be an ally but thank goodness for my experience and expertise, I was able to see beneath his covering.

I had been hot on his trail for the past hour and just when I was about to catch up to him, he sped up and took a turn. It was at that moment I lost him. I had my guard up, holding my weapons closely while I surveyed the space. He had to be around here. There was nowhere else he could go, right in front of me was a cliff and it would be a stupid decision to jump down that cliff.

He just had to be somewhere around.

I heard a rustle behind me and prepared my weapon for an attack. I surveyed my surroundings once again but there was no one in sight. After a few minutes, I heard the rustling sound again. I backed the cliff and remained at high alert.

“I know you are here! Show yourself!” I ordered boldly, moving closer, following the rustling sound. Soon, a figure came out of the forest and lunged at me, knocking my sword out of my grip.

I recognized him to be a member of the enemy’s pack but not the traitor I was after, which meant there were more of them in this forest. I recognized it to be a trap by them to lure me into the forest.

Another person came from the forest and another and soon enough I was surrounded by members of the enemy’s pack.

They closed in on me, and I knew I had to think of a way to escape. I swiftly picked up my sword and coupled with some martial art, I was able to escape from the circle they formed around me. I ran towards the edge of the cliff and tried to maneuver my way to the other side of the forest.

Just when I thought I had succeeded in escaping, I felt a sharp pain on my rib and I looked down and saw a silver dagger sticking out from my rib, it was poisoned with wolfsbane. In a few seconds, I felt the effect of the wolfsbane and coupled with the pain, I lost my balance and fell off the cliff.

I groaned as I landed with a thud.

*************

I felt her before I saw her, I knew it had to be her. My mate, the one I had been waiting for. My eyelids fluttered open and I caught sight of the blood seeping out of her shoulder, staining her shirt a bright shade of red.

I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw the expression on her face. She was marveled by my handsomeness and she didn’t even try to hide it, “if we met in other conditions, I would have advised you to take a picture as it would last longer” I said, then groaned as I felt the pain coarse through me again.

She gasped and her eyes met mine, “Nice to meet you too. You really need to take care of yourself” she said calmly, then rose up and turned to leave. I was taken aback by the way she was acting.

She stopped in her tracks and turned to face him, “I am Aria. I’m a doctor and I work at a nearby university hospital” she introduced herself.

She sounded so confident, that I found it difficult doubting the authenticity of her words. But what could a doctor be doing in this part of the town, especially at this time.

“I’m Xeros” I said.

“You wouldn’t mind if I took a look at your injury, would you?” She asked me.

“I won't,” I assured her. I also wanted her to take a look at it. Anything to make her stay longer.

She walked towards me and crouched in front of me then examined the bleeding on the spot where she earlier pulled out the dagger from. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the examination and kept me from falling asleep.

“We need to get the contaminated blood out of you” she said, returning her gaze to me.

“Then do that” I said, giving her the go ahead.

“I must warn, it is going to be a painful process”

“Painful?” I asked, as if I wasn’t already going through enough pain.

“Let me explain the process, I’m going to get a sharp piece of branch and make the cut deeper to aid more blood loss. This would help in flushing out the contaminated blood”

I nodded, it made more sense with her explanation. “Alright. I have no problem with that”

“Yes, so I would quickly get that” she said, still fixing her attention on the injury.

From the side of my eye I spotted a shining blade positioned in front of Aria’s neck, I looked up and spotted my brother, Alexander, hovering above me.

Aria's POV It's been day since everything that happened and the Brothers have been very busy. So was I. I have been busy trying to help the entire werewolf community around us that were affected by Edgar's schemes. My blood was indeed the only solution that could save the people affected with the sickness. I thought they would need a lot of my blood but they only needed it as a primary ingredients to develop the medicine. It was only a drop that was needed per person. Even though I gave out a lot of blood, and it made me weak for days, I was able to cover up many people that were affected. They were healed immediately. Now I wonder what everyone's perspective of being a red wolf is. Do they still see me as a curse or do they think everything that happened was because of me?Edgar was stripped off his wolf and was banished somewhere he would never escape. He deserved it. As for Lucas and his father, they lost their pack. His father got the same punishment but was made to work as a s

Aria’s POVThey dragged Edgar back like the traitor he was. His clothes were torn, and his face was bruised, but somehow, he still had that smugness in his eyes like he wasn’t scared at all. I stood there, breathing hard, trying to steady the storm inside me. My heart was pounding, not because I was afraid anymore but because I was angry.I walked toward him slowly. My feet felt heavy, but I didn’t stop. He lifted his head when I stopped in front of him, and I saw that disgusting smirk again. He looked at me like this was all just a game, like he hadn’t tried to use me, like he didn’t try to kill my mates.“You think this is over?” he asked with that mocking tone, as if he was still in control. “You’re too soft, Aria. You don’t have what it takes to deal with someone like me.”I didn’t reply. I slapped him. Once. Then again. And again. My hands shook from the force, and I didn’t care how loud it sounded. He didn’t flinch, but I saw the red marks forming across his face, and I welcomed

Aria’s POVI didn’t sleep. The cold stone floor pressed against my back all night. My arms were sore from being tied up, and the silence kept growing louder. I would be a crazy idiot if I was able to sleep in a place like this. Who would be able to sleep when death is knocking on their door? I kept listening for footsteps, for a voice, for anything. But no one came. Maybe they couldn’t find me. Could it be that they got hurt and the weren't going to come for me anymore? I wanted to believe they’d come for me. I really did. But I was starting to lose hope. The door creaked open early the next morning. I didn’t even flinch when two guards entered. Their faces were covered, their grips rough. They dragged me up, my legs numb from sitting too long. I stumbled but didn’t cry out. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. We moved through long halls, stone and dark, just like before. But this time, the air felt different. It smelled like fire and smoke and something else, something rotten. We

Aria's POV The air was damp. Cold. Suffocating. I could hear the faint echo of footsteps and the distant clink of metal against stone. My wrists ached from the tight ropes and my head was still spinning from the blindfold cutting across my eyes. Every breath I took was filtered through fabric, and all I could smell was the earth. It was wet, moldy, and ancient. We were underground. I didn’t need to see to know that. I could feel it. The air was heavier down here, stale like it hadn’t moved in years. I didn’t speak or scream. I just listened.I counted the turns and the steps. The hands on my arm that shoved me forward every time I slowed. Whoever these people were, they were trained. They didn’t speak a word. Until they stopped walking.A door creaked open ahead of me, thick, old wood judging by the sound. I was shoved forward one last time before the blindfold was ripped from my eyes. And the first thing I saw was darkness. Not literal. The room was lit dimly, with torches mounted a

Aria’s POVThe room was quiet, except for the faint creak of the chair as I shifted again. My palms were clammy. My heart hadn’t stopped beating a little too fast for the past hour. I could still feel the echo of Xeros’s voice in my ears from earlier.“Only if you agree. No one’s forcing you, Aria. But we won’t lie—it’s dangerous.”Dangerous? That word felt like a joke now. My entire life had been dangerous from the start.I sat back and looked at them, Xeros, Alexander, Carlo. All three of them staring at me with guilt and expectation. I let them wait in silence for a moment longer before I spoke. I didn't want them to keep looking at me like this so I had to change my mind. “I’ll do it.”Xeros flinched. “Are you sure?”I nodded once. “But it’s on my terms. You don’t get to lock me in a room again. You don’t get to decide for me behind closed doors. If I’m bait, I’m the one who leads the trap.”At least they needed to let me prove myself that I was worthy of being their Luna. So the

Aria's POVI didn't want to see anyone. I didn’t want to hear anyone either. For hours now, I’d locked myself in the room the brothers gave me well, more like the prison with soft pillows. I didn’t want their food. I didn’t want their care. I didn’t want their lies. There were soft knocks at first. Polite. Careful. They said my name a few times, Xeros, mostly. He always tried to sound calm when he was clearly panicking. I didn’t answer. Eventually, I heard Alexander’s voice. “Aria, open the door. We just want to talk.”I turned my head away and pulled the blanket higher. They could talk to the wall for all I cared. Then came Carlo, and I could hear the irritation in his tone. “You’re being dramatic. At least let us explain.”Explain what? That they were all liars? That I was a walking antidote and they were too much of cowards to admit it?Silence stretched on. I thought they gave up. Until—The door burst open with a loud crack. The handle flew across the floor like it had been punch
