Daisy’s pov

Being Jaxon Ryder’s girlfriend felt like riding a roller coaster. He changed moods like the weather. You could never tell when he would become the intense, terrifying Jaxon Ryder or the calm but still intense version of himself.

Sometimes, he could be surprisingly kind. I never thought he had that side in him, because "kind" and "Jaxon Ryder" never seemed to fit together. But when he was kind, it made my heart race and left me breathless. Part of it was fear, yes, but more than that, it was because seeing that side of him felt rare and overwhelming.

Other times, he was horrible. He was cruel. He seemed to enjoy making me feel small and powerless. Honestly, it felt like he liked to hurt and humiliate me. That was the side of him I could not stand. And his stare, wow. It was terrifying. I did not even want to imagine what he looked like when he was truly angry. Nobody would want to see that.

It was hard not to feel something for him when he showed his kind side. But when he

Avery rolled her eyes. “Please. It is obvious. You look like the kind of girl who is waiting for someone special before you give that away. Someone perfect. Someone who says all the right things and makes you feel like a princess.”I stared at her, completely stunned. She was right. That was exactly what I had been waiting for. The perfect guy. The dream guy.“So,” she went on, “are you really going to give something so important to a boy who has a reputation for sleeping with anyone who lets him?”My chest tightened.I had never really thought about the other girls Jaxon might have been with. What kind of relationships he had before me.Sienna gave me a quick look. “That is not exactly true. People say it is his friend Harry who hooks up with everyone. Jaxon just has a bad temper. He is not the school player. Harry is.”Avery’s face darkened the moment Sienna said Harry’s name. I noticed it and, for a moment, my own pain was replaced by curiosity.“But… I thought everyone in school w

Daisy's pov“What are you doing out here?” I quickly looked up. Sienna was standing over me, frowning. I closed the book I was reading. “It is free time, so I thought I would read,” I mumbled, lowering my gaze.“But outside? It is freezing,” she said. “Go back to the classroom, Daisy.”Honestly, I would rather freeze in the cold than sit inside and hear all the cruel things our classmates are saying.“Or go to the library, for heaven’s sake.”And feel everyone’s judgmental stares while I ruin their focus? No, thank you.“Are you even paying attention to me, Daisy?”I let out a sigh and looked up. “I am fine, Sienna.” But just then, a cold wind blew past us and made me shiver. She narrowed her eyes on me. “Really fine?”She rolled her eyes and pulled me to my feet. I tried to resist, but she tightened her grip, and I gave in. I let her guide me without protest because I was too tired, physically and emotionally. After everything I had heard that morning, pretending to be okay was ge

  • The Forbidden Affair: The Man I Should Never Have Known   Why did it feel like he was falling apart?

Jaxon watched Daisy climb the stairs, and something twisted deep inside his chest. A sharp, almost unbearable ache spread through him.He was losing her. The thought alone was worse than anything he had felt in a long time. But the truth was, he had never really had her to begin with. He ran a hand down his face and dropped onto the sofa. Leaning forward, he rested his elbows on his knees and stared down at his hands. The skin was broken, red, and sore. He could still feel the moment it split when he threw the first punch. He could still see the guy they went after, bent over in pain, coughing up blood. And the worst part? He had felt good about it.He had watched his friends take their turns, and he had not looked away. Jaxon clenched his hands into fists, ignoring the sting. His knuckles throbbed, but the ache in his chest was much worse. It was over. He had handled what needed to be handled. But if it was really over… why did it feel like he was falling apart? He should never have

Monday morning came and with it, a fresh wave of disaster. I stared at the papers in my hands, my eyes wide. I squeezed them shut and took a deep breath. But when I opened them again, the letters on the top corner of each sheet were still there.Still terrible. Oh no. My mum was going to kill me.When the lunch bell rang, I shoved the papers into my bag without thinking. I stood up and walked to the door. Jaxon was standing where he always did, waiting, and the tension inside me eased a little. His eyes moved over my face and I gave him a small smile.“Hungry?” I asked. He nodded and reached for my hand. We walked quietly to our usual bench outside the cafeteria. I glanced at him. He had been in a quiet, distant mood all morning.I tried not to worry about it. I already knew what was on his mind, last night. And I was sure he would handle it. He had already blocked the number from my phone when he came to get me, and the way he held me while walking me to class told me everything I ne

Daisy's pov “So let me get this straight,” Sienna said, pausing the movie. “After you told him about the creepy calls, he came and took you out for ice cream?”I nodded.“That is surprising,” she said, half to herself. “Who would have thought the scary hot guy actually has a kind side?”“I thought so too,” I replied, hugging my knees as I sat on the sofa. “When he suddenly ended the call, I thought he did not care about me. But he showed up. He really did.”Sienna put her feet on the coffee table again. I frowned at them. Mum loved that table, it was antique and fragile. She would not be happy if it got scratched.Sienna noticed my expression and slowly lowered her feet. “I did not know Jaxon Ryder had a heart,” she added. “With all the things people say about him…”“Yeah, I was going to ask you about that,” I said, shifting closer. “I heard those stories too, but he does not seem like that person at all. Sure, he looks scary and his stare could burn through steel, but I have never s

The sound of her voice, the shake in it, kept playing in his mind like a broken record. He shut his eyes. That bastard. With a loud curse, Jaxon grabbed his phone and hurled it across the room. It crashed against the wall and landed on the carpet near the sofa, making the couple there jump up and flee without a word.“That idiot!” he shouted.“What happened?” Rohan came rushing in, with Harry right behind him. “What’s wrong, Jaxon?”Jaxon’s jaw was clenched so tight, his words came out in a harsh growl. “He has her number.”Rohan’s expression changed instantly. “Maybe she gave it to him?”“She didn’t,” Jaxon snapped, dragging his hand through his hair. His whole body was tight with rage. “She told me she’s been getting calls like that since before we met. He never talked, until tonight. And tonight, she heard him.”“What did he say?” Harry asked.Jaxon turned toward him sharply. “He didn’t say anything. She heard him breathing. Heavy. She said he was groaning too, and she didn’t get i
