I stomped my feet on the wooden floor, my mind ramming with thoughts as I stepped out of the washhouse– a small rectangular building with five partitions and walked into the empty room.

Apparently, the four other mates I shared the room with had gone to Moon's knows where and I was the only one left alone.

The Shadow Clan had accepted to take me in, Courtesy of Vera. They were not rude to me and were not nice to me either. I couldn't care less as my mind was filled with other thoughts.

Benita's shocking revelation had kept me occupied and since then, I realized how foolish I was.

Since I met these girls , none of them seemed broken. Infact they glowed and radiated like the morning sun.

Also, they came from the Shadow and Pack Clan, the two most powerful clan after red wolf. Lord Alpha Tirion would think twice before waging a war on them.

So why was my mother killed?

I grunted, anger boiling through my veins as i put on the large satin white gown and stomped out of the room. There was only one way to find out the truth and I knew exactly where to find it.

The howls of wolves filled my ears as I walked down the hallway. The Shadow clan must be enjoying the full moon.

“The Shadow clan are so wild,” I heard a voice say as I passed the pack clan quarters. “But I think they have a better chance than that Falme girl.”

I paused and leaned on the door.

“I wonder why a Falme girl is allowed to participate.” Another girl said, “ I thought they were banned from participating a thousand years ago after the 'incident.’

I didn't hear what they said further as I walked away. I had better things on my mind.

A half hour glass later, I stepped into the hall of scrolls.

“You are here.” Vera said, not lifting up her face as she scanned through some scrolls on the table.

I walked silently towards her, not once taking my gaze off her. “My Mother was killed by the king's men.”

I stopped in front of the table, “Why?”

Vera continued reading her scrolls, “ The order of the king is his and his alone. I do not have any say in the matter.”

“You want me to believe that he gives a fuck about a girl from Falme?”i gritted.

She dropped the scroll and looked at me, “Your wolf,” She said, smiling. “I can't feel it.”

My gaze fluttered.

“You can't wolf out, can you?” She asked.

I looked away, pouting my lips.

She chuckled and picked up the scrolls. “If you want answers, Amara. You should ask Elder Lan, he is the one that brought you here.”

She looked back at me again, “You may leave.”

Elder Lan, I thought as I bowed. He was the most powerful amongst the council of Elders. Why would he want me here? And was he the reason my Mother was killed?

“The king's Army,” I asked, “Do they only work on the king's command?”

Vera paused, her brows tightening as she peered at me, hesitating.

“The house of Cheng mostly makes up the king's army.” She finally said. “They are mostly humans and can be manipulated by a higher being to do one's bidding especially someone powerful.”

“Someone as powerful as Elder Lan.” I said, the realization dawning on me.

“Good luck finding him.” Vera mused. “Even the Mother Superior herself has never set eyes on him.”

I gave a sarcastic smile and made to leave when Vera voiced,

“When you get to the end of the hallway,” She said in a cold tone. “Follow East.”

I blinked, confused as I nodded and stepped out.

Why would I follow East when I walked through the west end to get here?

I walked down the end of the hallway, looking at both path and turned to follow the East end when a voice fliters to my ears.

“Amara.” A soft voice called from behind.

I frozed, cold chill seeping through my skin as I turned and gasped.

A white wolf spirit stood at the East path, smiling at me.

“I am your wolf.” It said softly, “Don't you remember?”

I shook my head, my eyes fixed on it like a daze, “ I do not know you.”

It's eyes fluttered, as if it seemed hurt by what I said. “Well that is not a problem.” It said. “Come to me, I will remind you of everything.”

Slowly, I walked towards it. An unknown force pushing me further. My mind screamed danger but my heart wanted to know more, like what I have been yearning for, for years was right there.

Waiting.

I moved further, inching closer to the spirit when suddenly. Everything dissolved and I manifest into another room.

The room was a cave and four torches burned at four cardinal points. It smelt like Ash and rot and then….blood.

I looked around, my heart thundering as my gaze fall on a man kneeling, staring into the concrete wall. I gasped as I look at his skin.

There were scars of different kinds. Old and New. They sat on his skin like trophies stretched on a cupboard.

Suddenly, he turned sharply towards me and I gasped, realizing who it was. Lord Tirion. His once geled hair was now a shattered mess, falling dishelevely across his face. He looked like a mad man, locked away for a long time.

His eyes were no longer calm and cold. The remnant of fire had become a raging furnace.

“Who are you?” He grunted, his voice rough and edgy. He picked the whip that layed besides him, holding on to it, firmly.

“I ask again,” he said, standing on his feet, walking towards me. “ Who are you?”

My breath caught in my throat as I stood motionless staring at him. It was as if my mouth had become to heavy to speak.

“Who are you?!!!!” He thundered, his eyes changing as he morphed into his wolf form.

The world stood forzen, my legs rooted to the concrete as I watched him growl and morphed.

And that was when it hit me. My vision, it had become real.

He morphed completely into his wolf and charging towards me.

When–

A blindingly white charged between us and I see myself in the hallway of the barn wing.

What happened? How did I get here?

“The first path to destruction, Young lady is paying no heed to an Elder's warning.”

I paused, cold sweat trailing down my spine as I peered at the man before me.

“W-Who are you?” I asked, my voice trembling.

The old man laughed like I had asked the most stupidest question.

“In the books of ages, they call me the fire of the four kingdoms. The one who had seen the beginning of time.” He said.

“But in the new age,” He continued. “They call me Elder Lan.”

A huge gust of light twirled around me, throwing the cave into chaos as lucy hung suspended in the air, growling and cursing.I could feel her bones crack, her heartbeat dropping with each passing second. The dark weaves grew stronger, overpowering the lights as they formed into shadowy mists.Lucy screamed as one of the weaves formed into a sharp dagger and pierced into her chest."Help me, Amara!" She cried as the weaves dug into her body. "I can't take this anymore."I panicked, feeling Lucy's life slip away as the weaves grew stronger.I didn't know what to do. This was my first time wolfing out fully. I couldn't control Lucy under normal circumstances, let alone now her life was in danger."Hang on, Lucy." "Arghh!!!" we screamed as we fell through the dark void and landed face-first on the hard concrete.I groaned softly and turned onto my back, fluttering my eyes open to the tiny streams of sunlight that seeped in from above the cave."Shit. Where are we?" Morgana muttered, standing up and staggering slightly as she placed a hand on her head."I... I don't know," I replied, my head dizzy as I slowly helped myself to my feet, leaning on the cave wall for support.Morgana inhaled sharply and glared at me."This is all your fault," she snapped, glaring daggers at me."My fault?" I replied, stunned at the girl’s audacity."Yes! Your. Fault," she snarled. "If you had just minded your business, we wouldn't be here in the first place."I scoffed and rolled my eyes."Maybe if you hadn’t been so stupid to take the Poison Ivy," I grunted, "we wouldn’t actually be here in the first place."Morgana let out a gasp, staring at me in disbelief."You actually want to pin this on me?" she asked.I arch

Amara’s POVThe sky was clear. Too clear for a morning like this. A mournful stillness hung in the air as if the heavens had held their breath. The sun had risen pale and the trees stood frozen in solemn reverence. I should have found comfort in the serenity, but all I felt was dread. Afraid of what laid ahead of me.We walked in a line as Morgana and I led the procession. Both dressed in plain white tunics and scarves. No jewelry. No markings. No colour.Lucy stirred softly inside me. Solemn.I didn’t need to hear her to know how she felt . How she dreaded what might become. "You’re not alone, Amara." She voiced. "I'll fight with you."I nodded, giving a light smile to her comforting words. But was that be enough? Was she enough? The procession came to a stop at the base of the jagged hill, where the Cave sat on.One of the elders stepped forward—Elder Tirajo, his weathered face cold and stern as his white robe fluttered against the cold wind.He lifted his hands and muttered an i

"A lemon flavoured lip paint?" Benita raised a brow, licking her lips as they disengage from each other."Yep." Rebecca smirked, "Isn't it your favourite?"Benita chuckled and stepped away, gazing into the deserted field."Our Problem," She groaned, her tone darkening, "The worthless girl from Falme that claims to be the Moon Goddess Reborn."She tore her gaze from the field and peered at Rebecca."We need to do something about it."Rebecca sighs and massages her forehead with her fingers. " I always thought the Moon Goddess Reborn was bluff," She said. "Something to manipulate us into believing in some unknown deity. I never believed she was real, talk less of having a girl from Falme take the title.""But you should have known," Benita snapped, grunting irritably. "The plan was simple. Remove Morgana out of the picture and I win the Luna Trials.""I thought–""You though nothing Rebecca. You failed."She clicked her tongue and turned to the field."That day, at the trial of threads

The hall hung in silence as Queen Nianieve stepped in, her entourage of maidens and guards trailing behind. We all straightened, adjusting into a line as we bowed."At ease." She nodded, waving us a hand as she settled in the middle of the hall.Vera cleared her throat nervously and walked to her."Your Majesty," She bowed. "It is an honor. You gracing us with your presence."Queen Nianieve scoffed, her brow raised to a condescending gaze. "It is expected that a leader check on it's subject."Her voice dropped to a icy tone, "Especially when the subject becomes incompetent."Dread thickened the hall."You have shown that you are incapable of leading these girls into the Luna Trials" Queen Nianieve continued, walking away from Vera towards us.
