Chapter 13

By the time I reach my old house on the edge of the border I can’t catch my breath. I mind linked my mom on my way here the best I could, with how fast I was running. She told me she would be waiting for me with a blanket.

When I get to the pathway and shift, she drapes the blanket over me and rubs my arms. I'd rather not be talking to her about losing my virginity, but my head is a mess, and she's the only one that can help me sort it all out.

We walk quietly into the living room which is across the hall from my dad’s office. He starts to get up from his chair but my mom quickly tells him this was a girl thing and to leave us alone. He hesitates but when mom gives him her signature look, he nods his head in understanding and shuts his office doors, leaving us alone.
