The Bipeds pass stories through each generation as a tradition. My kind has been popular among them but for good reason. The war with the humans and their hunters is long gone now and we don't exist to them. One particular story however holds more weight than they know, the one they call wolf lord. Silly and cliche like most bipeds but some truth resides in each line spoken in such a story. However, to us it has become taboo practice and we now settle with elders and Alphas.

We don't give it a name or even label it because only one may exist at a time. When one is born all werewolves alive at that time are notified even if they don't know who. The steps to become such are horrific and never guarantee success. Things you would never find inside those stories being passed around are centuries-old secrets.

In most cases, this Wolf lord tends to claim their own life within the first century. However, the last two known to have achieved this in our history had different paths. One was killed by a Beta and the second disappeared from the world after ascending to such heights. These two were lovers after power for similar reasons, to be free of the laws binding them. The same laws that kept them separated and destined for different life partners.

For the first to ascend, she needed to claim the flesh and bones of her brethren. Ten lives were claimed in a single night leaving nothing behind, that night she embraced the mark of a predator. The second step was to consume the livers of one's parents, like fixing a broken mirror. In doing so she became a completed creature capable of loving herself no matter what she became. The last step was the heart of a loved one but to her, this was easiest to accomplish.

This could have been anyone she cared for above normal means, not necessarily a lover. But for her, she chose her younger sister who was chosen to be the mate of the one she truly loved. In truth, she did love her sister but when the light revealed a painful truth it became both love and hate. A stronger version of love was born from this and thus leading to her decision. However, in attempting this taboo ritual she didn't know how twisted it would turn her wolf spirit. She wasn't a weak woman but this ritual was driving her insane.

If you cannot control yourself during the change you become feral and forever a beast. When panic claimed her she sought out her lover for guidance and safety. That night she told him everything but he never turned her away, he sat with her through the change. When the ritual was completed she believed it was over but in truth, it wasn't done with her. The need to feed a bottomless hunger was growing inside of her, the wolf needed to be controlled but she couldn't find the strength. When the only thing around her was the person she loved only one thing could save them both.

She pleaded with him to take her heart and end this pain because all she wanted was freedom to love who she chose. Never did she expect the cost of freedom to be so twisted. How was he to refuse such a plea knowing well enough that suffering was all that awaited her. So under a full moon, he claimed the heart of his lover and laid her to rest. This was the only freedom awaiting her but it was enough to set her free and that was what mattered.

All that remained was the pack that made this happen, everyone had to pay. Before he knew it he too was consumed by this taboo ritual and became the same thing he hated. That is the truth to the wolf lord story these bipeds pass around like some fairy tale. When the second Lord was born it became known as Abicus, a name forgotten over the many years, however.

Abicus; prologue/ Part two

It was like a blindfold was lifted from my eyes when I got introduced into this world. The world is protected by a heavy veil we don't know is there till it's lifted for us. In a single night, my whole life was flipped upside down and I had forgotten everything I once knew.

Werewolves existed but not like how we wrote them in our stories. They maintained a human appearance and easily walked among us luring people in without fear. I was approached one night at a bar by one such person and his charm hooked me easily enough. We chatted so casually how was I to suspect anything even his job was real.

When my friends called it a night they said their goodbyes leaving us alone. He suggested taking a walk to get some fresh air which seemed harmless so I agreed. However, while walking I at some point blacked out everything became hazy around then. I regained consciousness on and off catching a few things but none of it made sense. I just know I was surrounded by strangers and strange-looking wolves.

When I regained full consciousness I had awoken inside of a cave on the floor. My head was splitting like someone took a hammer to it repeatedly. My body felt strange like it was no longer my own body or something else was trying to take over.

That's when a stranger came into the area I was in which didn't take me long to lash out in fear. However, I lost all my strength when a wolf followed him into the room nothing made sense. That's when he started explaining everything that happened and what they were. That was the night the veil was lifted from my eyes.

I didn't wanna believe it especially the part they used me in a ritual that succeeded. Anxiety was the least of my worries because the wolf at this stranger's side was the guy from the bar. The way he shifted back into a human right before my eyes, which shouldn't be possible. That was when stories became real for me that once had been a simple fantasy.

I was introduced to watchers who were going to monitor me going forward, So I became a prisoner against my will. I ran scenarios through my head of how to reach out for help but I know how it would look. I knew what the outcome would have been if I reached out but that didn't stop me from trying.

Every city we visited or little town on the way back to their den I tried desperately. But no one believed me no matter what I said or how I worded it. Those watchers just let me freely try to get help but none of it worked. So I was left with trying to flee but chains don't break that easily. That same wolf who met me as a human in a bar tracked me down in minutes and took me back to the little camp.

I continued to try anything to escape but nothing worked and once we had arrived at our destination, my will was broken. I didn't have the strength to resist or escape any longer. I was introduced to people called elders who explained to me what happened to me. The ritual performed was meant to replace a power they had lost long ago.

They told me of a taboo ritual that creates some kind of true Alpha. When that failed they looked for alternative options which lead them to merging animals and humans. All I could think of as I took all this in was, how many lives were lost. How desperate could someone be to go so far as to take another life in such a way my situation was worse than I thought. But I was trapped so I submitted to my fate because I couldn't escape. My chosen fate was to give birth to a child from two different bloodlines to give them a true alpha that would save them.
