BLOOD & DESIRES

~ALEXANDRO’S POV~

The look in Lauren’s eyes when she walked into that room.

I had seen it before.

Fear. Disgust. A silent accusation.

It was the same look my mother used to give me whenever I came home covered in blood.

My mother, the woman who gave me life, had looked at me as though I were something monstrous. Something unworthy.

And now, Lauren had seen it too.

How the hell had she even found that room? It was hidden, far from the public eye. A place meant for business, not for innocent eyes like hers.

I never wanted her to see ‘this’ part of me.

Not yet.

This life—this world—I was proud of it. It was mine. I had built it from the ground up and earned my place through blood and power. But Lauren didn’t belong in this world.

She wasn’t ready.

Mario would lose his mind if he found out she’d seen what she shouldn’t have. But I wasn’t going to let one mistake ruin my fun.

She would remember ‘nothing’ after tonight.

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE LIES"Some betrayals run so deep they poison generations, and some obsessions are born from graves we never properly dug."~ LAUREN'S POV ~The coffee shop felt like a war zone disguised as a sanctuary. I sat across from Ethan, my hands trembling around my cup, still reeling from his confession about the exposé."You destroyed him," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "You destroyed us."Ethan's face showed a mix of emotions, guilt, grit, and what seemed like relief."Lauren, you don't understand. I had to….""Had to what?" I snapped, finding my voice. "Had to use our friendship? Had to manipulate me into giving you information about Alexandro? Had to publish lies about human trafficking?""They weren't lies."The words struck me hard. I stared at him, searching his face for some sign that he was joking, that this was all some horrible mistake."What are you talking about?"Ethan leaned forward, his green eyes intense. "Those documents were real, Lauren. The f

THE BETRAYAL"The cruelest wounds are inflicted by those we trust most, using the very secrets we shared in love."~ LAUREN'S POV ~I woke to the sound of Sophia's phone ringing at six in the morning."Lauren," her voice was urgent, panicked. "Lauren, wake up. You need to see this."I stumbled into the living room, still wearing yesterday's clothes, my eyes swollen from crying. Sophia stood in front of her laptop, her face pale with horror."What is it?" I asked, though something in my stomach already knew. She turned the screen toward me, and my world imploded.‘NEW YORK HERALD - MORNING EDITION’‘CASTELLO EMPIRE EXPOSED: Inside the Dark Web of Human Trafficking’ ‘By Ethan Miller’The headline struck me hard, but it was the subheading that made my legs give out: ‘Exclusive photos and inner documents reveal the shocking truth behind one of New York's most powerful families’I sank onto the couch, my hands shaking as I scrolled through the article. Every horrifying detail I had seen

SHATTERED TRUST"The cruelest betrayal is when the person you love most becomes the one you fear."~ LAUREN'S POV ~The documents trembled in my hands as Alexandro stepped into the room, his presence filling the space with a dangerous energy that made my skin crawl. Gone was any trace of the man who had kissed me goodbye this morning, who had worried about my safety, who had held me like I was precious. This man was a stranger. Cold. Calculating. Deadly."I asked you a question, Lauren." His voice was silk over steel, each word strictly let out. "What. Are. You. Doing. In. Here?"I couldn't speak. Couldn't breathe. The trafficking documents felt like they were burning my fingers, the evidence of his crimes staring up at me in black and white. Children's names. Ages. Prices. My stomach lurched."Cat got your tongue?" He moved closer, each step gauged and predatory. "Or are you too busy playing detective to answer me?""I was just…." My voice cracked. "I got lost. I didn't mean to…

SECRETS~LAUREN’S POV~The leather chair felt strange as I sat down in what used to be Rosette's office. It is now my office, but it still shows signs of her presence. The polished mahogany desk shone in the afternoon sunlight coming through the large windows, and I couldn't help but find it ironic.Who would have thought? Six months ago, I stood on the other side of this desk, facing Rosette's sharp fusses and hidden insults. Now here I sat, giving orders instead of receiving them. Even if the means of getting this promotion wasn't exactly what I had wanted—watching Patrick and Rosette's downfall had been quick and brutal.Maybe I would visit them both again at the hospital later and gloat. After everything they had put me through, I was allowed that small pleasure, wasn't I?The thought of Patrick made my chest tighten with residual anger. Alexandro and I still hadn't talked properly about what happened last night. We had been so caught up in the chaos, the Ethan drama. But we w

SHADOWS OF THE PAST"The ghosts of our past have a way of bleeding into our present, staining everything we touch."~ ALEXANDRO'S POV ~The engine of my Lamborghini purred to silence as I pulled away from Storm Publishing. Through the rearview mirror, I watched Lauren disappear into the building—beautiful, stubborn, mine. Things were still fragile between us, like spun glass that could shatter at the wrong touch, but we were trying. That had to count for something. But even as relief settled in my chest, anger burned alongside it. I hated that she had run to Ethan for support instead of talking to me. Hated that I couldn't blame her for it.With everything happening with Viktor and the Russians, I had been too busy for her. Too busy to see she was lonely and scared. Too busy to be the man she needed. But everything would be okay soon, once Viktor had been dealt with. And now Ethan Miller had been added to my ever-growing list of problems. The list never seemed to shrink, only mult

THE WEIGHT OF SILENCE~ LAUREN'S POV ~I woke to an empty bed and the hollow ache of unfinished arguments. The sheets beside me were cold, perfectly made—as if Alexandro had never been there at all. But I could still smell his cologne on the pillow, a ghost of cedar and bergamot that made my chest tighten with something between longing and fury.Last night's fight replayed in pieces behind my closed eyes. The way his voice had turned to ice when he had accused me of "finding comfort in another man's arms." The disbelief that had crashed over me like a wave when I realized he thought so little of me—that he believed I would run to someone else the moment things got difficult."So finding comfort in another man's arms is your solution when I'm gone?"The words had cut deeper than any blade. After everything we had been through, after all the ways I had proven my loyalty, he still saw me as someone who would betray him at the first sign of trouble.I had tried to explain. Tried to t
