The Bugatti Veyron raced across the forest highway, its engines silently cruising at a speed of ninety miles/hr. The driver of the Bugatti barely glanced at the passing scenery, his mind occupied with the upcoming meeting with other Alphas. The meeting was not his main focus, it was the place that concerned him, Blue-Moon pack’s territory. Ryan had been a frequent visitor to this pack in the past year. But none of his visits were fruitful. The Blue-Moon pack's Alpha had been quite adamant in keeping his mouth shut about the whereabouts of his mate. No matter how hard he tried threatening, yelling and pleading the old man did not budge. The only information the old man ever gave him was her name “Evelyn.”
Just saying her name sent tingles across his body. His mind went back to the time he first laid his eyes on her. Ryan knew she sensed him, the entire time she was trying to get the girl, named Erza to come with her. He desperately willed her to turn and look at him. She did, finally after he exploded with his frustration. The moment their eyes met, his whole world stopped, he realized finally meeting his other half.
"MATE! MATE! ..." yelled his wolf.
He forgot his surroundings when his blue eyes clash with her dark brown ones. Her brunette hair tumbled over her shoulders in sassy waves. In-spite of blood, bandages and covered in wounds, she was the most gorgeous girl he ever laid his eyes on. It was as if a spell had been woven between them, he couldn't take his eyes off her and neither did she. They broke out of the trance when the girl named Erza kept yelling at her, Ryan realized the rogues were coming back.
Her way of handling the situation astounded Ryan. The quickness with which she fought and disposed-off the rogues showed her fighting skills. Ryan's anger reached no ends when the third rogue plunged the knife into her shoulder. His warning came a bit late, but at least it saved her life. He dreaded to imagine what would have happened had he not warned her in time. He wanted to help her but couldn’t get free of the silver cuffs.
“Shit!” Luka swore beside him. Ryan turned to her only to find she had pulled the knife out from her own wound without hesitation, killing the third Rogue in one swipe. The look in her eyes was deadly, her aura actually sent shivers down his spine.
“What the hell? Why am I getting frightened because of a woman?” exclaimed Sam.
“Yes, she has an interesting aura,” said Daniel. ”But she sure is cold-hearted.”
Ryan wanted to punch Daniel when he insulted his mate, but couldn’t ignore the fact, she did refuse to help them just because this was not her problem.
Ryan got the chance to view her slim and well-toned body when she removed her shirt to put a temporary bandage. She was wearing a sports bra and faded blue jeans. He could hear the murmur of appreciation racing across his pack’s mind on seeing her; he wanted to lash out at them for ogling his mate when he got distracted by the wound on her side.
'She was wounded but she battled?' pride swelled in Ryan at her courage. He desperately wanted to hug her and keep her safe. But when he tried to hold her, she pointed the knife at his chest and said, "Don’t."
Ryan felt anger like never before, his wolf wanted to come out and show her who the dominant one was, and make her submit to him. His chest rumbled with a growl. She was his mate, did she not realize that? Was she trying to avoid him? He was so caught up in rage that he didn't hear her next words. She did not even wait for an answer and left.
Luka caught and restrained him before he had a chance to drag her back to him.
“Jeez... what’s gotten into you... calm down. Getting out of here is our first priority. We can show her, who the boss is after we get out of here."
The calm reasoning of his beta helped him to control his rage, besides Ryan realized he was in no position for a prolonged fight. The silver had done its job and had drained most of his energy out.
