The next morning, I roll over and notice that Asher isn’t by my side and I vaguely remember him telling me he has to live with his father for business.

I thought it was a dream since it was so late at night.

When I go downstairs for breakfast, I see that the table is almost full, with only two spare seats.

Asher’s grandfather is reading the morning paper, Rich is sipping from a cup, and their grandmother is breaking an egg.

“Good morning,” I say, taking a seat.

“Morning,” the grandfather replies without moving the paper from his face.

‘’Good morning dear.’’ The grandmother smiles at me.

‘’Your husband called. He wanted to check in with you, but you were still sleeping,’’ Rich tells me.

‘’Oh, sorry I missed that call.’’

But am I really?

I still don’t know what to make of last night, and I think Asher is disappointed in what could have happened, but didn’t.

‘’Sorry you missed it too, I would love to hear what you two have to speak about.’’ Rich gives a smile.
