I look over at Millie to see that she isn't enjoying herself. She just sits on a bar stool, gazing out into space and not even drinking her drink.

I sigh because clearly neither of us is used to the lifestyle of the other.

She is too... I don't even know how to explain her behavior.

I place my drink down on the side of the pool table and walk over to her.

''Would you like to leave?''

''Please.'' She nods.

''Ok.''

When we get into the cool air, I pause on the curb and thought Millie would have done the same, but she foolishly steps into the path of a coming car. If it isn't for quick actions with me pulling her back and the driver swerving to the right. She would have been a goner.

She looks up at me, and I squeeze her trembling hand.

''Are you ok?''

''Yes, thank you.''

I continue to hold her chilly hands in mine as we cross the road to the parking lot where the driver is waiting for us.

Millie squeezes my hand, and she looks up at me, then quickly looks away and I wonder what that is
