After letting Caleb play all afternoon in the pool, Bea reheated their meal and started frying the marinated meat while the two were taking a shower. She was about to set the table when the father and son pair walked out of the bathroom in their night pajamas.
Bea wanted to acknowledge Callum’s effort in buying matching pajamas. She hoped that having a matching outfit would help alleviate the awkwardness between the two.
“Let me do that. You should also wash up. You might catch a cold.” Callum took the plates from her hands and continued where she left off.
She had no choice but to do what he said, so she went inside the room and took a change of clothes before she entered the bathroom.
While under the shower, some thoughts came running to her mind. She was having her vacation and she was lucky to get to spend her time in a pool. If Will had not cheated, she would have been spending her precious vacation with him. It would have been fun
“Oh! I shouldn’t have made that move.” Caleb looked serious while thinking about his next move. It had been their third round since they started playing chess and he failed to win for the past two rounds. Because of that, he was more determined to win the current rank but his father seemed like he would not give him even a slight chance.“Are you out of moves?” Callum asked with a blank expression and a bored tone. Caleb immediately picked up the knight and moved it to the side where a bishop could protect it.“You failed to notice this one again.” Callum picked up Caleb’s castle piece and put his queen on the spot where the castle was.“Argh!” Caleb let out a frustrated groan as he scratched his head.Bea let out an amused smile as she watched Caleb being seriously frustrated while playing chess with his dad. Was it not obvious that Callum had the upper hand since he was older and he was the one
Though she was a bit tired, Bea could not sleep. She had a young boy in her arms, but it was not uncomfortable for her. However, Caleb’s warmth made her think about the things that she wanted to forget. She knew that she was old enough to be Caleb’s mother, so she wondered what could have happened if William did not leave to work in the city? Would he have married her earlier? Would she have a child as cute as Caleb?Though she was aware that it was useless to think about those things because it would not happen even in the future, she could not stop herself from regretting almost everything. Yes, it made her happy, but she also felt that she wasted her time for nothing. If she found the right man instead of clinging to Will, would she be holding her own child instead?“Was he asleep?” Though Callum lowered his voice, Bea was still surprised when she heard him.“Yes. He’s already fast asleep.” Bea chuckled when as
Morning came and the three prepared to set off early so that Callum could go to work on time. Though it would have been better if he spent a little more time with Caleb, the child insisted that his father must go to work and not neglect it for him. While they were on the road, Bea looked at Caleb who was sound asleep at the back. Was he even comfortable sleeping in that position? She should have inclined his chair more if she knew that he would sleep on the road.“Can we hang out again together tomorrow?” Callum asked her out of the blue.“Tomorrow?” Did he not have work? How could he ask her again to hang out with them as if he was not the busy one? If he had the availability, why did he end up having no time for Caleb?“Yes. You’re leaving after the weekend gig, right?”Bea bit her lips when she realized what he was trying to imply. She was running out of time and Callum wanted to make the most of the tim
“I’ll leave Caleb in your care today.” Callum stopped his car near the front of the hotel entrance. He took out Bea’s bag and carried it while Bea carried the sleeping child out of the car. “Would you mind if I ask you to take care of him until tomorrow morning?” “You want him to stay with me tonight?” Bea looked at him with a confused expression as they started walking together towards the elevator. “Yes. I’ll be working through the night and I don’t want him to feel alone in the house.” Bea nodded after hearing his reason. It would be better for Caleb to spend the night with her than to know that his father needed to work through the night after spending half of the day with him. “I will ask his nanny to bring him a change of clothes and a few pieces of stuff that he would need for the overnight stay,” Callum added after they walked out of the elevator and walked towards her hotel room. “Yes, thank you.” Bea took her card and opened the door
It was already 9 AM and Caleb was still fast asleep. He must have been really tired from swimming and playing chess with his father yesterday.Bea stood up when she heard a knock on her room door. She opened the door and saw Caleb’s nanny holding a bag. She handed it to her before excusing herself but Bea stopped her from leaving immediately.“Miss… Do you know Caleb’s favorite food? I want to cook lunch for him later but I still don’t know what he likes.” Bea smiled hesitantly. The nanny smiled. “Caleb likes pork sinigang. A sour one.”“Really?” Bea’s expression lit up. “Thanks for telling me!”“Should I go buy the ingredients for you?” The nanny offered since she noticed that the lady in front of her was alone with Caleb so it would be hard to go to the grocery.“Would that be all right?” Bea asked.“Yes!”She ha
“Are you awake?” Bea smiled when she saw Caleb walk out of the bed. She moved her to the bed after 30 minutes of being asleep since she wanted to prepare snacks for him.“Miss Bea…” Caleb stretched out his hand to her again so Bea carried him.“I cooked pancakes. Shall we have some?” Bea asked with a sheepish grin.Caleb smiled and nodded. “I love pancakes!”“Then let’s eat!” Bea put him down on the chair and prepared the pancakes on the table.“It smells delicious!” Caleb giggled as he smelled the pancakes.“But it would be more delicious if you eat it.” Bea started to cut the pancakes into small pieces before she gave the plate to Caleb.“Yes!” Caleb picked up his fork and stuffed his mouth with the bite-sized pancake dipped in maple syrup. “This is so good!”Bea laughed when Caleb’s cheeks looked swo
Callum went to fetch the two early in the morning but as soon as the door opened, he saw Bea whose hair was still wet, and his son who seemed to have just gotten out of bed. He checked his wristwatch and wondered whether his clock was not properly working but he realized that it was not.It was already eight in the morning. They were supposed to be all dressed up and prepared but they were not.Caleb walked towards Bea and took the towel that the woman had in her hands.“I told you that I can take a bath alone. Don’t worry, I’ll wipe my hair thoroughly this time,” his son said in a sleepy voice. He went on his way towards the bathroom without even looking at him.“I apologize for this. I forgot to set the alarm clock.” Bea opened the door wider and invited him to enter.Callum just nodded and made himself comfortable on the couch. He looked at Bea who busied herself in the kitchen area so he stood up and walked t
“Caleb, call your dad. We’re going to eat now,” Bea ordered as she put the pancakes on the table.Caleb walked towards him and grinned. “Dad, Miss Bea said that we are going to eat now.”Callum nodded his head as he followed his son. He saw Bea already seated and Caleb sat beside her. He chose the seat across from her which he immediately regretted because he suddenly felt so awkward. Just why the heck was he feeling that way? He was supposed to be an adult so why was he acting all embarrassed from a child’s teasing? He noticed that Bea cut the pancake into small sizes before she put the plate in front of Caleb. She was truly thoughtful towards him, huh?“Miss Bea’s pancakes are so good! You should try it.” Caleb looked at him as he put one small piece of pancake in his mouth.Callum looked at his son and nodded. It seemed that Caleb was no longer shy towards him thanks to that outing. It was be
