Chapter Two

I opened my eyes. I was in some sort of moving cage, and my legs were tied up because I could not move them. I managed to sit up and then looked around. I was in a silver cage, and we were being moved by someone.

I recognized one of the men in the cage with me—the one who told me about Crystal Lake Pack earlier.

I coughed, bringing their attention to me.

"Where are we going? Who took us?"

He scoffed. "How long are you going to keep on the pretense, Clarissa Clay? You and your pack members are all liars."

I was about to apologize for getting them caught, but then the other man said.

"I told you, Robert, not to take the money and agree to show them where the girl is because they looked like they would not keep the end of the bargain."

"This is all because of this stupid girl; I am now a prisoner. Her pack members are murderers; they can all burn in hell."

I burst into laughter. "And you are not? A liar and murderer, you call me and my family, but you took money and agreed to sell me to the people; you did not know what they were going to do to me."

He growled at me, and I growled back. I was very angry; this idiot just blew my only chance of escaping all because of the cash that he didn't get.

"Quiet, or I will hurt all of you," I heard Finn growl.

My father's favorite guard is the one in charge of all his dirty work.

Robert stayed quiet, but he kept giving me a death glare, but I was not interested in him. I was contemplating how to deal with my stepfather, who would torture me and lock me up for death.

The carriage stopped, the cage opened, and they dragged me out and left the men there.

I looked around and saw that we were back at the pack house. Finn dragged me by my hair and led me to the house. I looked around and saw that we were back at the pack house. Finn dragged me by my hair and led me to the house.

When the door opened, my mother was standing behind it. She slapped me immediately.

"Ungrateful wretch, How dare you try to bring humiliation to this family by running away?"

I was about to talk when she slapped me again and said, "Shut up."

I felt tears well in my eyes. I would have escaped successfully from this hell hole if Robert had not betrayed me, stupid!

I heard the doorbell. I looked up to see Alpha Clay and bitchy Miranda coming down from the stairs. He came down with a rod that he would probably use on me.

He smiled devilishly and was rolling his shirt, about to start beating me, when his phone rang.

He looked surprised when he saw the caller. He looked outside.

"Alpha Stephan is here; Finn, make sure things are in order; leave this witch for now," he said quickly and dashed out.

I was grateful for the ruthless Alpha Stephan right now because I might have a chance to escape again since they were distracted.

I was about to go up to my room when my mother shouted my name.

"Stay here. We are all expected to greet him."

"I will be back, Mother; I want to freshen up; I can't greet him like this."

She rolled her eyes and said, "I do not care how you look, girl, but you will stay here and greet them."

I stood with them, waiting for my father and Alpha Stephan, and praying I did not vomit here from the pretense. When the door opened, revealing my father and two men, I could not stop thanking God.

I knew immediately that it was Alpha Stephan; he dominated the room.

Everyone listened to him and nodded at everything that came out of his mouth.

He was taller and had green eyes like the forest; you will think he is one with nature.

He had a knife wound in his right hand; the famous story was that he got the wound when he fought two Alphas.

There was another one that had the same green eyes as him; I figured he was his brother. They both bore the same resemblance, except that Stephan was taller than him and oozed more power than him.

I heard his name was Liam, Stephan's younger brother, and also his beta.

Once they got to where I stood, Stephan stopped with his men. It was as if I were pulled to him, for I could not stop staring at him. He looked at me, his green piercing through me.

I could not move or breathe.

There was a sweet scent emanating from him, and I could feel my wolf leaping inside of me.

"Mate Mate."

I was frozen with fear as it dawned on me what was happening.

The next thing I knew, he held my face up, examining me like a puzzle that needed to be solved.

I felt it coming back up. I tried to hold it back, and before I could draw back, I threw up on him.
