I waited for my body to instinctively move away, recoil into my side of the demarcated bed, like my subconscious screamed at me to do, but to my own surprise, I didn't.

I couldn't, the pull I felt to his body was stronger than my previous resolve to stay away from this man, it was like my own body wanted him but couldn't bring itself to agree it did.

And just as he was about to properly kiss me, just as I was ready to close my eyes and let myself fall, a sudden noise ripped through the silence.

It was his phone, vibrating loudly on the nightstand, its screen glowingthrough the darkness.

Ryan froze, his body went stiff as he let out a frustrated sigh that was silent but I felt the puff of air against my cheek.
