"Attention class, I would like to introduce your new classmate." Everybody stops what they are doing to focus on me. I always hated to be the center of attention. In their expression you can see they are all judging me, some got a disgusted look, others are smiling at me. I keep my head down just wishing the teacher would finish with this already.

"He comes from Texas; please tell your name to the class."

I breathe nervously "Hi, my name is Adam. Adam Trent." I say cleaning my throat which is very dry right now.

"Whitest name I ever heard." Someone said and the whole class burst out laughing.

"Okay Khalan since you want to be funny you're going to be responsible for showing the school for Adam." The teacher, Mrs. Hilson says to the boy.

"What... No. Why?"

"Is that a complaint that I'm hearing? You want to get detention too?"

"No, sorry ma'am."

"That's what I thought. I would like all of you to be kind with him and show him a good time. And Adam" she turns around to talk to me "You can sit besides Khalan. He's going to show you the school later. And if he does any stupid thing you tell me okay." I just nod; right now, I just want to sit in my chair.

I sit beside him and the teacher starts to give the lecture. The day starts with calculus; I grab my notebook to take notes.

Khalan leans towards my way "Yo!" he says to grab my attention I look at him and wait for him to keep talking or whatever.

"Sorry about earlier, I didn't mean to upset you. I just like to play, that's all," he says and I feel a warmth inside me, I must be blushing because he flashes me the most beautiful smile I ever saw.

Adam

I hate it when I am on days like this, remembering the past wondering if I'll ever see that boy again. That Khalan.

These days it's all about this "kmoney" that I hate.

Has been a month since the last time he showed up. The girls keep asking me about him and honestly, I don't know what else to say. I want all this to stop, I want to end it, but I don't have the strength to do it. I still love him. To me, he's still that silly boy I once met.

My phone vibrates on my desk and I run to answer it.

Yes, I know I'm pathetic.

"Hello?"

"Hi baby." His voice is so soft he gets that way when he feels guilty. I am thrilled just to hear the sound of his voice.

"Khalan, I miss you so much." I say, on the verge of tears.

"I miss you too, you don't even know how much. You and my girls. I have been busy with the album release, but you guys are on my mind all the time. Can't wait to see you."

"And when will this be?" I ask hopefully, I know he will not be coming anytime soon.

"Not so soon, baby, as I said the album-"

"You should FaceTime the girls, they would be very happy to see you." I say in a hurry.

"Adam, you know I can't."

Khalan always had the dream of one day being a famous rapper, he's making his dream come true right now and sometimes I feel guilty to pressure him. However, our daughters are growing up. He can't keep them a secret forever.

We live in different cities, which is safer for his career. I know what I signed up for when I accepted that, but I never thought that things would be this awful.

I thought that one day he would come forward and we could be a family.

I'm getting tired of hiding myself waiting for a day that will never come.

"Is okay." I whisper frustrated.

"Baby I love you but I have to go. I'm recording right now. When the next song is ready I want you to be the first to hear it," he says all happy. "I love you and my girls."

And with that, he hung up. "We love... You too."

I look at my phone and feel my cheeks getting wet. My heart is tiny. I don't know for how long I'm going to hold on.

"White boy wait." he yelled from the hallway I stopped and waited for him to get at me. "I'm supposed to show you around," he says smiling. His smile is so gorgeous.

"You don't need to if you don't want to. I will not say anything to the teacher."

"Nah is okay. Furthermore you seem to be alright," he says starting to walk fast and me following trying to reach him.

Little did I know back then that I would do this my entire life.
