Marcus:

We walked out of the house without saying a word as I ignored the pain that was in my chest at the force of the woman’s punch.

The fact that she actually dared to punch me the way that she did annoyed me more than I thought that she would. It was as if what I told her and what mom promised made no difference.

I found my tongue completely tied to the point where I didn’t even know what to say.

We got inside the car and mom glared at me the second we drove out of the Estate.

“You had your tongue eaten by some…”

“You said that your hex blocked their mating bond.” I said, stopping mom. “You told me that everything was going to go according to plan, and yet, I can tell now that you had nothing going according to whatever we planned. What do you think the other pack members would say when we went back to them? You know for fact that they were waiting for her ‘positive’ response about her giving up being the pack’s Alpha for them to submit to me as their Alpha.”
