Chapter 13 - A run out in the wild woods

Cassandra’s point of view:

I woke up with a jolt, scanning the dark room with my keen senses, taking in the sounds of critters that slithered out at this time of the night.

With trembling hands, I reached for the lamp beside my bed and turned it on.

I wasn’t blinded by the darkness in the room. I could see pretty well at night.

I sighed in relief when the light turned on. I glanced around my lit up bedroom, checking for any kind of shadows lurking from behind the curtains and furniture.

The light provided me with a sense of protection, reassurance even from what I had just dreamt about.

Unlike the recurring nightmares that I have had for the past few weeks because of Marcus, this time around, it wasn’t the same nightmare that haunted me in my sleep.
