Where is she?

Zayden’s P.O.V.

“I, Helena Hensley, accept all the allegations against me with clear conscience.

Blinded by the hunger of power, my mother and I orchestrated a death trap for the Alpha couple of the Moon Howlers Pack and pretended to save them in order to get the approval for marriage.

Everything was according to our plan, but Sylvia’s unfortunate return unveiled our true intentions.

As the Luna position has been claimed by its rightful owner, please consider accepting my written confession and punish me as you see fit.”

I read that written confession signed by Helena once, then twice and then thrice. But still couldn’t find its connection with her sudden shift to another prison.

“Where are you, Helena?”

Perhaps, the prison in charge had changed the location of the cell temporarily, as the rogues arrested from the previous battle were to be locked in the special dungeons.

So, I mind-linked my Beta Alex; although, he was busy in the border security matters.

“Meet me at the death cell, now!”

This message was followed by my wolf’s nonstop cursing, he growled at me.

“Don’t you have feet? Move your lazy ass and search for Luna.”

The countless weird possibilities were already swirling in my mind, and now Blitzer’s continuous scolding didn’t set well with my anxiety. I shot back at him.

“There are only five death cells in this dungeon. She isn’t here.”

“Useless human!”

Blitzer scoffed; he was clearly not satisfied with my reasoning.

“I don’t know anything, look for Luna.”

He scratched my defense walls to take control, so I thoroughly examined each and every room in this high security dungeon and before Beta Alex’s arrival, I was standing in the investigation room.

“W-What’s your command, Alpha?”

Alex, my best buddy, was breathless, as if he ran all the way here. I kept my Alpha demeanor intact and questioned casually.

“Where did you imprison Helena yesterday?”

Alex calmed his breath down and replied.

“Oh, this is the matter. I thought there was an emergency.”

Alex mumbled under his breath and guided me to the countless times checked death cells.

“What?”

I just stared at his wildly expressive face, as it had instantly lost all its colors, becoming chalk-white now.

“I clearly remembered about leaving her here, where has she gone?”

He totally disregarded my presence and ran outside, swearing in a low voice.

“I swear she was here. Fuck!”

I followed him closely and reached the duty guard’s room, he was also sleeping during his duty hours.

“Wake up!”

Alex picked up a glass of water from the table and splashed it over his face.

“Luna, I mean a dangerous criminal was kept here, and you are sleeping. Are you paid for this?”

Beta Alex’s endless rant was halted by my interference, my presence alone was enough to make him fearful for his life.

“Show me the list of the prisoners in each room.”

My Alpha command left no room for discussion, that duty guard hastily clicked some buttons on his laptop and turned its screen towards me.

“Here it is, Alpha. Please forgive me.

It’s my first and last mistake. It will never happen again.”

But I wasn’t paying any attention to his blabbering, as my eyes were fixed on the details of Helena’s stay here.

“Helena Hensley. Death cell number four.”

There wasn’t any record of her shifting, and this was the official start of my panic attack.

“Show me the CCTV footage of the last twenty-four hours.”

My next command perplexed that clueless idiot, his eyes popped out while processing this sudden order.

“It’ll take some time, Alpha. I’ll instruct the control room to send the complete videos to your office.”

I was back in my office after dealing with security staff. As ordering for large-scale search would garner useless attraction, I decided to wait for the video evidence. Her sudden disappearance was literally challenging my Alpha authority.

However, the sun had risen in the East, and I was still waiting for those simple CCTV footage.

“What is so difficult about compiling a video file? Have I hired a bunch of brainless employees in the IT department of my pack?

I must personally call them.”

My hand froze midair as the sounds of heavy footsteps echoed in the corridor of my office suddenly, my heart picked up by its pace in anticipation. The door of my room was opened by a knock, Beta Alex’s entry poured a bucket full of cold water on my existence.

“Good morning, Zayn.”

He was carrying a breakfast tray; I could tell at first glance that no USB was included in its contents.

“I’m not hungry.”

As soon as he placed that breakfast tray before me, I pushed it aside.

“Any news from the control room?”

Alex’s open book-like face was expressionless, his typical warrior mode alarmed me. He wasn’t just a friend, but more than a brother to me. He had always treated me nicely with a readable expression on his face.

What was he up to now?

He mixed a cube of sugar in the coffee and served it to me.

“The security system was corrupted by a virus. Our team is trying its best to resolve that issue.”

There was something fishy about his demeanor, so I asked him directly.

“Look at me, Alex. You are hiding something from me.”

My patience was running thin, I couldn’t endure this type of failure in this critical situation.

“You tell me, Zayn! Why do you wish to see Helena? Aren’t you marrying your ex-fiancé Sylvia now?”

“Alex!”

My Alpha tone forced him to submit, he bared his neck in submission, and chuckled.

“You already know it, Zayn. Do you want me to confirm it?”

My heart thumped, as the ground below my feet shook. Blitzer repeated the sentence, which he was singing like a bird from the very first moment.

“Luna is not in the pack.”

I banged my hairy fist on the table before me, breaking it into two.

“Helena is an omega. She can’t escape from the tight security of our pack.”

I shot up from my spot in a heartbeat, grasped Alex’s collar, and thrashed him against the adjacent wall.

“Bring her brother to me. He must be aware of his sister’s whereabouts.”

As Alex was clueless about this unexpected disappearance of the brother-sis duo, he said helplessly.

“He is also missing, Zayn. Our warriors have checked his room in the pack house, his luggage is untouched.”

His momentary paused irked me, I put some pressure on his throat for truth.

“Listen to me carefully, Zayn. Your mom and dad are safe after that incident, and you have got your lover back.

Why don’t you just let them go? You have other pressing matters on your hand, like arranging a Luna Ceremony for Sylvia.”

His untimely taunts fumed me, anger crippled beneath my skin.

“It means you don’t know where she is?

Sod off, Alex!”

I growled furiously and dropped him on the ground. Blitzer, my angry wolf, was itching to be let out. The last thing that I heard was the horrified shouting of Alex.

“I was at the border throughout the day, they didn’t cross the border.”

Thanking him in my heart, my feet bolted towards the prison, the duty guards must have seen something.

“Luna has left us. You hurt her, bastard!”

Blitzer cursed me over and over again, Helena’s teary face flashed before my eyes. The despair in her eyes cut through my heart.

“Was she speaking the truth?”

At that moment of weakness, my feral side took advantage of my vulnerability and took control over me. The sleeves of my shirt shredded, as my hands elongated in claws. My buttons ripped off as my chest protruded, my backbone straightened and broke into a smooth, black furry back.

Soon, I was running on all fours. My supernatural eyes sighted panicked soldiers, gathering outside the building.

Good! Alex had already mind-linked them about my visit!

“Whoever saw my Luna last time in the pack, report me!”

My ferocious growls couldn’t get any answer from the kneeling team, I scratched my right paw on the dirt. By using every ounce of my Alpha authority in one word, I growled menacingly.

“Who?”

“Him!”

“Not me!”

“Alpha, him!”

They all pointed towards each other; this blame game broke the bounds of my self-control. The whole scenario around me got drenched in the blood immediately, leaving any liar head on his body was out of the question now.

I raised my head high in the air, let out a piercing growl, and pounced at them.

“Where the hell has Helena gone, you rascals?”
