Kiara’s POV

I stared at the space in front of me, and despite how focused I was, nothing, absolutely nothing seemed to be changing. The back of my eyes stung, and I was ashamed at the fact that it took me longer to realize why that was happening. I was tearing up, and the worst part? I had no idea why.

I blinked back a couple of times, while forcing myself to push back the tears. They didn't cooperate immediately, and instead of letting them fall, I decided to distract myself. My eyes glanced at the walls that looked too much like they were closing in on me, and I swallowed. The clock that was hung high up on the wall ticked back and forth, and even though it bathed the room in a kind of eerie ambience, all I could think of was the limited time I had left here. The more I stared at the place, the more I realized that I didn't really have anything that belonged to me in here.

There were no personal effects whatsoever, and I had no idea how that made me feel. A pang of guilt sprea

Kiara's POV I couldn't sleep , not when sleep had signed an agreement I had no idea of to elude me. Why? I had no idea. Or maybe I did and I just wasn't ready to face it yet. Whatever the reason was though, it didn't make things any better. If anything, it made it all worse and I hated how helpless it'd made me feel. I’d tossed and turned for hours, my thoughts circling back to the same place they always seemed to find, Darius. His eyes, his words, that kiss from the other night. Hell, I'd sworn that I didn't remember him, but I couldn't deny how familiar The feel of his fingers against my skin was. My body had arched into him so bad, that I didn't even pay attention to the questions he was asking me. The memory clung like a brand, refusing to let go, and I hated that I was thinking about the wrong thing. Darius was mad at me, furious if I was being precise, and instead of trying to find a way to make him forgive me, I was here reliving the night when he'd touched me like he was

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 222

Kiara's POV The trip back blurred around me, and not in the way I actually liked. Hell, if someone has whispered their predictions to me before Darius and I had actually headed out, then best believe that I wouldn't have gone with him. Yes, he'd sort of cornered me, but if I had known, if I'd had so much as an inking that all of this was going to unfold, then best believe I would stood my ground, even feigned some kind of illness so I wouldn't be able to go with him. Whether or not it would have worked out, I have no idea, but absolutely anything would be better than the chaos that had just happened a little over an hour ago. One moment, or last night if I was being specific, Darius had been in my room, his hand warm against my cheek, his lips a whisper of devotion against mine, and the next, the storm inside him had broken loose, like all it had taken for him to break loose was to step into the cabin. In the blink of an eye, he’d pulled away, his jaw locked, and every emotion be

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 221

Kiara's POV Time to slow to a halt and believe when I said I'd never been this terrified in my life. My heart thumped loudly in my chest. In fact, it was so loud, I honestly thought the said organ was going to tear through my chest till it was sprawled on the cabin floors. While that was a pretty gruesome sight to see, I wouldn't exactly mind it. At least, if I was dead, then I wouldn't have to face the man in front of me. I wasn't overly dramatic, but you just had to believe me when I said that nothing, absolutely nothing could compare to the fury that was radiating off Darius. I honestly thought it I ignored the danger in front of me, then maybe, just maybe it would go away. But I was wrong, very very wrong. His eyes pinned me the moment the word left my lips. The cabin. I’d said it, unthinking, and now it clung to the air between us like smoke refusing to clear.Like that wasn't bad enough, I'd even gone into details about where the damned bookshelf was and what not. Shit.

Darius' POV I wasn't one to be easily pressured, but I would be lying if I said that Rhian's words didn't get to me, and in more ways than one too. Then we test her. And I just gave you a chance to find out the truth. This is the only way you'd get your answer. It'd been a full blown day since we had that conversation, but our conversation still hadn't left my mind. If anything, his words echoed loudly in my ears, over and over again and no matter how hard I tried to push them out, it felt like I was only making it easier for them to come back into my mind again. I hadn't slept properly, and if it meant anything, I still hadn't gone to see Kiara. After her second slip up, the atmosphere turned tense, and awkward. Luckily for the both of us, I didn't hang around to make it any more worse. While that sounded like the best thing to do then, I hated that it now came with so many doubts and what not. Test her. Break her. Last night was thick with silence, but my mind refused to re

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 219

Darius' POV The floor of my study had worn thin beneath my boots. I’d been pacing since dawn, the grain of the wood beneath my steps carving into my skull with every turn. With how many times I'd walked across the floors of my study, it was a miracle how the wood hadn't worn out, or caved underneath my boots. I hadn't thought about it before, but whoever had built this deserved a fucking damn raise for surviving the pounding of my footsteps all through last night. The fire in the hearth hissed and cracked, but it couldn’t drown out the echo of her voice. Nothing could do that, no matter what I tried. Then why did you leave me at the cabin that night? Her voice has been so soft and fragile, like a porcelain glass scared of shattering to her own death. Kiara had said she had no idea who I was, and she remembered nothing that we shared but how, how had she been able to make reference to that? Was it really a slip, a fragment of her memories coming back, or just a bloody damn lie?

  • Awakening the White Wolf   Chapter 218

Kiara’s POV Of all the ways I thought tonight would end, best believe this kiss wasn't one of them. Hell,I'd been scared that Darius had been lurking in front of my door for quite some time now, and how their fuck did I show him that I wasn't exactly pleased with it? I kissed him. I fucking kissed the man like my life depended on it. His lips moved over mine with such reverence. It felt more like he was worshipping me more than anything else. His tongue slowly pushed into my mouth and the moan that slid past my lips was priceless. It echoed all around us, while it sailed up to the roof to make its nest there. His hands cupped my cheeks and his fingers trailed around my neck at my nape before he spoke. “Kiara.” His voice was low, so low it made my toes curl. He didn't say anything else after that, but I didn't miss the way his hand slowly slid down my side. He wasn't as free as he used to be with me, and I wondered if that had anything to do with the fact that I'd told him I
