OLIVIA

“Thanks for saving me,” I muttered, raking my fingers through my hair nervously, my voice cracking as I tried to sound casual. “I’m grateful.”

He nodded, sauntering towards me with a glass cup in his hands. I sat on his bed— it was the only thing in his little room.

No chairs. Nothing fancy at all.

I wasn’t judging but… just wanted to clarify the reason I was on his bed.

Sitting, of course. Nothing more.

“Don’t break a sweat,” his beautiful smile danced on his lips, and his hands stretched the cup towards me. “Drink this, you’ll feel much better.”

“What’s in there?”

I tried to peep into the cup before collecting it, and an unfamiliar yet pleasant smell whipped through my nose as I tried to inhale.

It smelled like strawberries and chocolate, but it didn’t look appetizing or pleasant to the eyes at all.

“I really can’t tell you the ingredients,” he jokingly said alongside a chuckle, standing a few feet in front of me. “But, trust me, it’s a good liquid for your nausea.”

  • BOUND TO THE MAFIA LORD   His lurking secret.

OLIVIAAxel… I had no idea why he was doing that, but he was lying to me.I stared at the phone in my hands, awaiting his response to the text I’d sent five minutes earlier. He’d read it, but there wasn’t any reply. At that point, I was silently fuming. My stomach lurched at the thought of him being with Nelly. Why was he even lying about that to me?I tossed my phone to the bed, stroking my chin with my fingers. A heavy grunt slipped out of my lips as I tried to remain calm.“Olivia…”My body jerked out of the bed at the sound of his voice. I ignored everything else, even the cold that made goosebumps grow on my skin.I walked towards the door, my hand gripping the doorknob tightly to open it. When I opened the door, I met him standing at the entrance… alone.Secretly, I glanced around, looking to see if I’d see her anywhere. The only figures around were the housekeeper and three guards who usually stood in front of my door.“Axel,” I returned my gaze to him, forcing my voice to be

AXEL SAVALTORE ROSSI.“So you’re off to work?”I buried my face in my phone screen, her disappointed voice reached my ears.My breath caught up in my throat, and my muscles tensed. I didn’t mean to lie to her, but something had occurred, and I couldn’t tell her about it.I needed to be sure and clarify things before speaking up.When I didn’t respond to her question, she tugged at my arm, jolting me back to reality.“Axel?”“I’m sorry, Kitty.” Staring into her innocent golden eyes made my heart rip in guilt. “But I’ve got to go. Like right now.”She gave a small nod, her eyes darting to the floor. Her shoulders slumped, and I could tell how unhappy she was.I reached for her shoulders, pulling her closer to me for another brief moment. My fingers cupped her jaw, tilting her face up as I pressed my lips against hers.“Take care of yourself.” I kissed her, pulling away after another beep from my phone. “I’ll be back soon.”*“You’re not supposed to be here.”She swerved around to face m

  • BOUND TO THE MAFIA LORD   His sweet little lies.

OLIVIAThe last two weeks were the best moment of my life—in the mansion, of course.I laughed often, played and danced in the sun and under the rain, like the fairytale Isabella always read to me in books. It was fun, honestly. And something I didn’t want to end anytime.I knew that I had doubts before, but Axel had completely given me no reasons to worry or question anything. My mother was getting better, and we communicated frequently over the phone—Axel had gotten me one.And as for Nelly, well… she’d tried so many times to visit and reclaim her ‘usual’ position, but Axel made it clear that there was nothing he wanted to do with her.Isabella was still on the run, but Axel had promised to let her go free if she came back with the item she’d stolen. That afternoon, I stood in the kitchen, hovering over the stove as I tried to prepare a meal.Rosa said I could start with something simple—pasta. And that was exactly what I was trying to do.“How does it taste? Is it good?”I stared a

AXEL SALVATORE ROSSI.“You knew you couldn’t swim, and you got into the fucking pool?”My voice was harsh with her, but I wrestled to keep it calm. She’d drunk a few drops of water unintentionally, and it was a miracle that I’d caught her early.Olivia batted her eyelashes, coiling her arms around her knees as she sat in the chair. The cold air seeping through her wet skin made her teeth chatter. Her voice came out in a shuddering whisper. “That… That was why I had Alessandro there with me. He was teaching me—‘“—Stop uttering his name in front of me,” I warned, a low growl as I turned around to face her. “I’ve been quiet and lenient about that dumb gardener. But now, I’m going to have to get rid of him for good.”She raised her head at me, fear glistening in her eyes as they widened. A sharp gasp escaped her lips after she unwrapped her arms around her knees.“Ace… you can’t do that.”“Watch me.”“No, you can’t.” She stood on her feet swiftly, her teeth chattering as she grabbed my

AXEL SALVATORE ROSSI.Three days.Three fucking days, and all Olivia had done was ignore me like the plague. She’d locked herself in the room repeatedly in a row, a streak she diligently kept going.I’d turned into a shadow of myself, always in the council room, holding a bottle of drink in my grasp while I stared out of the window. It was a nightmare—one that I’d never imagined living. Her absence affected me more than anything. I wanted to hold her again in my arms, to watch her lips part into a smile at me. But all I got were twisted lips and a frown whenever we walked into each other.Another day, same damn routine. Glass in hand, staring out the window from my room. The sun was extremely bright that day, and amid the scorching heat, I wore my usual black sleeves. My mind felt like a haze of whiskey and regret. I took another sip from my glass, my eyes peering out of the window as a haunting laughter filtered into my ears. The familiar, soothing sound of the laughter that always h

  • BOUND TO THE MAFIA LORD   Actually romantic.

OLIVIAThe water kept running, streaming down my body—our bodies, in full force. Axel had joined me in the shower, and I was certain that he hadn’t taken off his clothes.I swallowed, my breath hitched. His words hung in the air, and I tried to find the right answer to his question.Did I believe him?Was he really serious about everything he’d said?Mine. The word settled over me, heavy and possessive, yet… not terrifying. Not anymore.Instead, it felt like a promise, a shield against the venom of the world outside. I still couldn’t see, not clearly, but I could feel him.The soaked fabric of his clothes sent a jolt through my body as it touched my skin. I muffled a gasp, my heart thumping heavily in my chest. And for the first time, truly and wholeheartedly, I believed him.His actions. His words… everything.Axel’s voice, low and rough from the running water, broke the silence.“You know it’s the truth,” he purred, his fingers trailing over my face. “Tell me you feel it too.”Yes,
