Chelsea slumped onto the bed, tossing her bag in any direction. She was truly frustrated with herself at the moment, recalling the recent events she had gone through with Carlos.
Chelsea also despised and disgusted herself for willingly selling herself to that man. Several times she cursed herself and apologized to her father for her foolishness. If only Carlos hadn't stopped her earlier, she wouldn't be at home right now, but under the covers catering to all of Carlos's desires.
However, the man had been kind enough to give her time to reconsider. Whether to become a sugar baby or a daughter-in-law.
"Indri, what should I do?" Chelsea sighed as Indri answered her call.
"What now?" Indri asked. "You come back from a date and instead of sharing good news, you're complaining like this. Why? Is Carlos not as handsome as his photo or..."
"No, it's not that. Carlos actually looks even more handsome and youthful in person."
"Well, if he looks better than his photo, that's a good thing. It means you can be his sugar baby without feeling embarrassed that he looks older, right?"
"Yeah, I know that. But the problem is, Carlos is offering me something incredibly tempting. It's a shame to pass it up, but I'm hesitant to choose between the two options he presented."
"What choices did he give you? I'll help you choose one of them."
"Carlos said he would give me $1000 if I agree to be his sugar baby."
"$1000? Wow... that's a fantastic amount for your first meeting!" exclaimed Indri happily, realizing how much money Chelsea could get. If it's $1000 for just one meeting, then Chelsea's payment would be substantial.
"But that's just the first offer. The second offer he made is even more enticing than that."
"Quickly tell me what kind of job Carlos is offering you?" Indri urged, genuinely curious about the job Carlos had prepared for her friend.
"Carlos asked me to seduce his son and make him fall in love. And there will be many bonuses and inheritances if I succeed in getting his son to marriage level."
"Oh my, Chelsea, in that case, you'd better seduce Carlos's son. I bet his son is just as handsome as Carlos." Indri pushed Chelsea to consider the second option. Not without reason, as that job seemed better without ruining Chelsea's future.
"If it were for no other purpose, I would definitely choose to seduce his son. But... the problem is, my goal in becoming Carlos's sugar baby is to separate him from his mother. If I end up marrying his son, all the plans will surely fail, right?" Chelsea explained her intentions.
"Yeah, you're right. It's also pointless to have a lot of wealth if your dad and his mom's marriage falls apart."
"Exactly... that's the dilemma." Chelsea felt truly drained at this point.
"Here's an idea, Chelsea. Why don't you just approach his son and convince him not to approve of the marriage between his dad and his mom? How about that?" Indri offered a sensible suggestion that wouldn't harm Chelsea's future.
“"Instigating Carlos's son to forget his mother?"
"That's right."
"Are you sure this is the best course of action?"
I believe so." Indri nodded, though Chelsea couldn't see what she was doing. "Oh, by the way, what's Carlos's son's name? And did he give you a photo or business card of him?"
"Of course, his name is Vano. If I remember correctly, Carlos sent me a few photos through the messaging app. I'll take a look first to see what this Vano looks like."
"Alright." Indri waited for Chelsea's response for a moment.
"What is he like, this Vano?" Chelsea mumbled, opening her messaging app. And she was shocked when she saw the image of the Vano Carlos had mentioned.
"This Vano? Oh my..." Chelsea sighed, rubbing her face roughly. She hadn't expected that the Vano Carlos referred to was her senior in college.
Chelsea distinctly remembered how nerdy Vano was. The girl contacted Indri again, unable to hide her surprise.
"Indri, I can't bear the thought of seducing Carlos's son," Chelsea complained. Biting her lower lip, she tried to find the right words to convey the news.
"Why? Is he not attractive? Or..."
"He's Vano Wijaya, our senior in college," Chelsea interrupted before Indri could ramble.
"W-what...? Vano Wijaya? That nerd? Oh..."
"Yes, I just received a message from Carlos."
"This is tough, Chelsea. Vano is nerdy and brusque. I've never seen him with any woman."
"That's why I think this is quite challenging."
"Yeah, that means you'll have to win over Carlos so you can get the money."
"But I don't want to give away my virginity to him."
"Well, then, just be bold, approach Vano," Indri raised one of her hands, although Chelsea couldn't see what she was doing. "Enough, don't argue anymore. If you keep rejecting every piece of advice I give, you might as well think for yourself."
"Indri, please don't be like that." Chelsea sighed deeply. "I'll try to approach Vano," she lamented.
She quickly said her goodbyes as she needed time to think about how to approach Vano. They had never exchanged greetings before. She was just an ordinary student, not involved in any organizations on campus. Vano, on the other hand, had a high GPA, was wealthy, and known to be dismissive of women. He was never seen mingling with other students; he only stayed in the library or discussed things with professors. Nothing more than that.
"Chelsea, you're lucky to be his child. Instead of taking care of your father who's almost dying, you're on the phone with a man. Want to be a cheap woman?" Margaret scolded, barging into her room.
"Mom, I..."
"Your father is dying. Quickly take him to the hospital if you still want to have a father."
"W-what?" Chelsea jumped up from her bed. She searched for her father, who was supposedly dying.
"Mom, please help. Help me take Dad to the hospital!" Chelsea called out, trying to lift Tomas from the floor. His nose and mouth were bleeding.
"What, help? Forget it, he's your father. Deal with it yourself!" Margaret sneered before walking away. She looked neat in a mini dress that hugged her body, appearing very beautiful, not like a wife witnessing her husband's near-death condition.
"Mom! If you leave this house, I promise that at that very moment, I will make your life miserable!"
"I don't care!" Margaret retorted, completely ignoring Chelsea's warning. Unbeknownst to her, Chelsea vowed to herself that if anything bad happened to her father, she would certainly retaliate for all the pain that woman had caused. Chelsea didn't care whether Margaret was her biological mother or not.
Chelsea let out a soft sigh. Her lips pursed, and she stirred the cold mochaccino in the tall glass. She seemed to be discussing her parents with her friend, Indri.Taking advantage of their lunch break, Chelsea used the time to seek advice. It was something she always did when her mother was caught having another affair, again!"Cheating again?" Indri interjected, leaning back in her chair. She seemed weary of Chelsea's recurring issues. She was tired of dealing with the problems Chelsea faced, and tired of trying to prevent her friend's mother from seeking another lover.Even though Chelsea's father was still alive, albeit in poor health, their family had been struggling since then. Financial difficulties, her father's declining health, and her mother's infidelity had started to affect their household. It began with dwindling finances, Chelsea's father's worsening health, and her mother's affair, driven by her desire to find a wealthy man to satisfy her socialite aspirations.Accust
But if she didn't show up, she wouldn't be able to reel Carlos in for a meeting. Chelsea was weighing her options on how to save her parents' marriage and fund her father's medical treatment."Yeah, Dad, what is it?" Chelsea greeted at the other end of the call as her phone rang. Her father was calling her.“C-chelsea …”"Hello, Dad. What's up?""Can you come home, dear?""I'll be home soon, Dad!" Chelsea hurriedly ended the call. No need for many questions; her father's heavy and intermittent voice could explain the situation at home.Chelsea rushed to the parking lot, riding her old scooter to leave the café area and catch up with her father. Unbeknownst to her, her actions had negative consequences on her job. Despite only having worked at the café for a month, she had somehow managed to leave without seeking permission from the café's management. This resulted in a stream of complaints from her co-workers as Chelsea left suddenly, especially since her break time had already ended.
Chelsea sat in front of her vanity table, gazing at her swollen face that had just stopped crying. Witnessing and hearing her parents' arguments, which always seemed to fill her days, was taking its toll on her. Life was becoming more complicated by the day.Chelsea closed her eyes, the echoes of her mother's shouts replaying in her mind."I don't care anymore, Tomas. You have to divorce me right now!" Margareth, her mother, demanded a divorce from her father. She couldn't bear to continue living a life of poverty like this.Meanwhile, Chelsea had been working tirelessly to help support her mother's presence. It wasn't that Chelsea was afraid of her mother leaving home, but she didn't want the woman who was so beloved by her father to go, which would only worsen Tomas's condition. Margareth had been Chelsea's father's main source of support and encouragement all this time. Chelsea didn't quite understand why."I can't give you a divorce yet," Tomas whispered, still hoping to salvage h
