Chapter 05
Scarlett's viewpointAnother day has passed. I had to make a promise to my twins that I wouldn't be gone for too long—hopefully, I won't—after they whined about how much they missed me.I started working again at 7 a.m. so I could complete the tasks I started yesterday.Lillian and Alexander were among the few workers who appeared to have arrived. When I arrived at his office to thank him for ordering me to leave last night's job unfinished, he wasn't there.Let's get started, I heaved as I sat down and got right to work.** After two hours **"Hey, you already arrived?" Surprisingly, Lillian said as she entered."Yes, I arrived early to finish up what I couldn't finish yesterday." I replied with a good morning."Morning," she said before remaining silent while deciding whether or not to speak what she had in mind."Y.. you want to say something?" When I noticed she had her eyes on me, I questioned while looking up at her."About yesterday, I guess. She continued, "I'm really sorry about the attitude of the boss," and I nodded.I said, "It's nothing", and then my eyes shifted back to the files."Do you have any physical aches? You must be tired as a result of the horrible work you did yesterday, right?" She repeated herself, and I pondered her genuine intentions.I fake smiled and said, "Nah, there are none. As you can see, I'm fine.""Possibly, have you ever interacted with the boss?" I stopped after she asked for a few seconds before turning to face her."Why do you inquire?""Oh, it doesn't matter. He said something about you only yesterday.""Did he? I interrupted her, "I'm quite sure I didn't hear him say anything other than ordering me around.""No, he talked about..""Please stop right away. I smiled and added, "I need to finish these up quickly," and she nodded. She said, "I apologize," and then took a seat. She's a nose poker, so I guess I was mistaken in thinking she was peaceful.I worked for five hours and wasn't finished. It was midday when I looked at the clock."Have you visited him yet? My train of thinking was interrupted by Lillian, and I bowed my head in her direction. The question "See who?" Incredulous, I questioned. With a furrowed brow, she said, "Boss," adding, "You weren't listening when I said so."Yes, I wasn't paying attention. After what happened the previous morning, I never heard her speak to me."I told you he asked to see you two hours ago, didn't I?"I said, "No, you didn't," which was accurate because I didn't hear a word she said to me."Well, he wanted to see you," She shrugged. No more words were exchanged before I stood up and hurried out of the office.I arrived at his office panting heavily but chose to take a moment to collect myself before entering.Gently advancing while making an effort to be silent. Oh my, I should have knocked, but it was too late; I had already opened the door.He immediately raised his head in offense and with a "Who dare do that" expression as soon as I walked in."Are you acting rationally?" Before I could say sorry, he reprimanded me severely.I kept saying, "I'm so sorry sir, I didn't mean to."The question "What do you want?" He rudely interjects."Um. I.. um.." His icy and stern expression made it difficult for me to talk clearly. I had trouble breathing."Leave now!" Before I could gather myself, he interjects."Huh?""Now!" I sprinted outside as soon as he yelled. I was horrified; to say that I was scared would be an understatement. He must really detest me, fuck.My palm was on my chest when I felt a stab of anguish go through me. Oh my God, my heart hurts. This occurs whenever I feel frightened, afraid, depressed, or uneasy. It's not a major deal, but it takes a while for it to get better.I didn't realize I had said, "Shit, it hurts," until I heard the door switch open, at which point I flinched so violently and the pain intensified that I collapsed to the ground in groans."Haa!" I screamed in agony and closed my eyes.It appeared to be Alexander when I finally managed to open my eyes a few seconds later, but what really hurts my heart is that he didn't seem to care.He observed me as I lay here in agony but said nothing. He must really despise me. I merit it.I was able to stand up and resume my journey back to my workplace after remaining on the ground for a few more minutes.Hey, how were things? I disregarded Lillian, who was acting concerned, and proceeded to my desk. I ignored her once again after hearing her scoff.I finished everything after working for three more hours. I was taken aback by how quickly it happened, but I couldn't be happier. At least I would get to eat, and most likely pack my twins' morning and afternoon meals, which I had neglected to prepare at home.Alexander certainly has more work for me than this, but at least I would eat before doing whatever it is, so I should go tell him about it.I got out of my chair and went to his office.I softly knocked so I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. After knocking for a minute without receiving a response, I decided to take a chance and pushed the door open, but there was no sign of him inside."S.. sir?" I eventually found my voice, but it took some time."S.. sir?" I called once more but got no answer. He's not likely in here, so I should return later. I was about to leave when I noticed a specific pair of shoes lying on the floor. Is this what hell does? The idea made me chuckle uncontrollably.I used to be the one to pick up his shoes for him while we were dating because he had a habit of doing this despite having racks for them, and I never complained because I enjoyed doing it.Okay, that's enough, I was going to stop when I saw the shoes, is that right?I ran over to the shoes and took a huge risk. The footwear? They are identical to the ones I bought for his 20th birthday. Why does he still keep them if they no longer suit him?I had to stop when I accidently touched the left side of the shoe, which caused a hidden area to open. Oh sh*t, and the most shocking thing just occurred!!!Alexander emerged from the restroom completely undressed! As he turned in surprise, we locked eyes. Oh my god.Chapter 56Bonus Scene: A Day in the Life of Alexander and ScarlettThe morning sun bathed the room in a warm glow as Alexander and Scarlett stirred from their slumber. He asked, his eyes wide open in shock and I nodded."Did you.. ""Yeah, saw you on my first day here" I said and his brows fell."Then why didn't..""Well, I felt like you didn't feel the same way and I was the only one and you know, showing up in front of you again as your neighbor, that might seem you know, like a pain in your ass" I said laughing at my own joke while he was quiet."Y

My mind whirled with a mix of emotions—surprise, excitement, and a tinge of nervousness. The possibility of expanding our family filled my heart with both joy and trepidation.I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "Are you serious?" I asked, my voice filled with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty.Scarlett nodded, her eyes shimmering with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. "I took a pregnancy test earlier today, and it came out positive. I wanted to be sure before sharing the news with you."A surge of elation washed over me as I gathered Scarlett into my arms, holding her tightly. "That's wonderful, Scarlett! I can't even put into words how happy I am right now. We're going to have another child!"Tears of joy welled up in Scarlett's eyes as she hugged me back. "I'm so glad you're happy. I was nervous about how you would react."I smiled, brush
