First heat

Kyra Walter looked as pale as a ghost. Waking up beside a man who is not her husband was not how she expected this morning to go. She is the Luna of Silvershade pack, but Wolfless. Panic surged through her body as she remembered how she ended up in another man's bed. She might be Wolfless, but still she has the werewolf DNA. As a female, even she experiences heat at full moon. She just turned 21, and this was the first time she experienced something like this. She was not prepared to lose control the way she did. No one warned her that it would make her lose all reasoning to the point where she would seduce a man. What's worse is the mark on her neck. She is carrying another man's mark on her neck, who is not her husband.

Quickly, she picked up her clothes and didn't even glance at the man beside her. Her body protested with each movement. The scent of the man felt like an aphrodisiac, which threatened to pull her under his spell again. Just by his scent alone she can tell that he is not Dane Walter, her husband and chosen mate. That was enough to sober her up. She gave her first time to a stranger.

She got dressed with shaking hands before bolting out of the hotel room where her coming of age birthday party was held last night. It was still dark outside, as if the sun is not due until after a few hours.

'Dane must have been worried about me when he couldn't find me last night. He couldn't contact me through the pack link because I don't have a wolf. How should I explain to him that I cheated on him' she thought as her guilt ate her alive. As she rushed back to the Silvershade packhouse the streets were empty as everyone was in bed at that time. It took everything Kyra had to enter the pack house and make her way into Dane's room. She was planning to tell him everything and beg him for forgiveness. Dane chose her as his mate three years ago when she was just 18. But despite declaring her as his mate, he never touched her. He wanted to wait until she turned 21. Last night was supposed to be their night, but she ended up in someone else's bed. As he didn't mark her yet, their bond is nonexistent. So neither of them could feel if their spouse was intimate with another. Their relationship existed on paper.

She heard voices, or more like intimate grunts coming from Dane's room, even before she could open the door. Her stomach dropped.

"Dane, harder" a very familiar voice moaned her husband's name.

Kyra stood there shell shocked.

"Mona, you feel like heaven" Dane sounded breathless.

Kyra could hear the sound of flesh hitting flesh which screamed intimacy.

She stumbled in shock, never expecting her husband to cheat on her like this. She pushed Dane's room door slightly ajar. There, she saw two naked bodies entwined in bed. Mona, Kyra's best friend and the pack Beta is hugging Dane with familiarity.

"Ahh, Dane, I am coming" Mona screamed, followed by Dane's roar of release.

Kyra moved aside, unable to witness the intimate moments of the cheating couple. She felt like a spectator when her perfect husband shattered her trust.

"Dane, do you think our plan worked? What would that bitch do when she finds herself in another man's bed? I am excited to see her falling apart. The pack she cares so much about, the pack which her father left for her would sneer at her shamelessness. Finally, you can reject her and claim this pack as your own. We can be together openly then" Mona said sounding extremely happy.

Kyra was still struggling with the pain of their betrayal. Now when she realized that they set her up and planned to ruin her, she was stunned. She doubled over with pain. Dane was the man whom Kyra loved with every fiber of her being. So when he proposed, she thought it was her dream come true. But how could she have known that this was a plot against her?

"Good riddance. Finally I can be free from that pathetic woman. Just looking at her face makes me feel sick to my stomach. How did she even expect that someone like me would like a Wolfless Omega like her? " Dane, the same man who used to shower her with attention and affection spoke cruelly.

Kyra couldn't have believed this if she was not hearing it herself coming right out of Dane's mouth.

"Anyway, who was that man whom she slept with? You should have made sure that he was a Witcher. You know how our kind hates witches. Sleeping with a Witcher would have helped us to execute her once and for all" Mona said viciously.

Kyra couldn't believe her ears. She thought Mona was more like a sister than a friend. Kyra foolishly assumed that Mona was pure hearted and devoted to the pack, but she turned out to be this vicious.

"I did. But she was in heat. I don't know whose room she entered. Sadly, that was not the Witcher's room. No problem. We can expose her in the morning and show to the entire pack how shameless she is. That would be enough for me to reject her and strip her off her title. No one in the pack would protest or even support her" Dane replied with a cunning laugh.

Kyra felt like her head was spinning. She thought her relationship with Dane would change after tonight, but not like this.

She walked stiffly into her own room which is on the farthest corner of the corridor, and the room meant for Omega's.

'I just cannot control myself if you sleep in the room right beside mine. Let me do this the right way' he explained to her. She blindly believed his nonsense. When Mona was given the room beside Dane, he explained that Mona is like Kyra's family and he just wants to treat Mona right.

Kyra couldn't help but laugh at her stupidity.

'Dane, you fooled me so perfectly. You and Mona might have laughed at me for how easy it is to fool me' she thought feeling bitter.

Kyra stood under the shower fully dressed. That's when the tears she had been holding back started to fall. She cried silently as the pain in her heart made her feel like she was dying from inside out.

'Dane, you played me for three years. You want to reject me? Then I will make your wish come true. Now it's my turn to play with you' she decided. It's either her pain or something else, but suddenly she was feeling stronger, mentally. As if an invisible force is giving her that strength.
