Luisa POV

I didn’t take my eyes off Derek from the rearview. I could hardly believe he was her in the car with handcuffs. My gaze momentarily went to Rena and I paled – it was my fault. The bruise on her lips was all because of me. It should be my lips, not hers.

“I am sorry, Rena.”

She turned towards me and winced a bit touching the bruise, “It's okay. It’s what I signed up for.”

I chuckled, “You didn’t sign up for a bruise on your face, that’s all on me.”

She shrugged, “Regardless, I am just glad to be of help. Honestly.”

Fabian snorted. I glared at him, but that didn’t keep him shut.

“I can’t believe you lied to me, Jenny. You were the one I was looking for and you sent me up.”

If it wasn’t for the bruise on Rena’s lips, I might have felt guilty for lying to him, but I felt nothing. “That’s because you weren’t willing to know the truth. You only heard the story from one person's perspective and you jumped to a conclusion. I can’t put my trust in someone who blindly trusts
