Chris What?

Luisa's POV

Life happens in seconds. The moment I saw Kingston in front of my door, I was scared. Scared that I have been found out and he would continue to pester me for a relationship I was not ready to have. I was preparing my mind to give him a piece of it and label him as a stalker.

That was my worst fear of him until he mentioned his son. At first, I thought it was a trick, the fear of him trying to get me in a relationship was gone in a second. In fact, I would have preferred that to the question he just asked. I was ready to deny it but he seemed so certain that his son was with me. So, I had no choice but to beg him. Thankfully, he just wanted to see the boy and not take him.

The moment we stepped in, everywhere was dark. I could easily tell that my mother and Chris were asleep.

"I think you should turn the switch on." Kings whispered to me. He already put on the flashlight on his phone. To avoid any argument, I obeyed him and everywhere was bright again. I also filled relief because I could monitor his facial expression and easily identify what he was planning to do.

The truth is I don't trust anybody. Especial if it's about Chris I tend to have trust issues.

"Why don't you come back tomorrow? He is asleep."

His nose was turned up like he was smelling something bad. Then he shook his head.

"I don't think I will be able to sleep unless I see and touch him. I have missed so much in his life thanks to you." he glared at me.

I turned back not because I had nothing to say but because I don't want to provoke him to change his mind. I started moving into the room my mother gave Chris and me. I was not sure he was going to be there but my mother ought to put him there. With every step I took, I could feel my heartbeat increasing. It feels like the most dangerous thing I have done in a long time.

Kingston was silent behind me. I could only imagine what was going through his mind.

"Can we walk faster?"

I stopped to eye him. "No, if he wakes up. It's sometimes difficult to put him back to sleep. I can't risk it."

He seemed satisfied with that, "What is his name?"

"Chris."

"Chris What?"

"I know what you are trying to figure out. He bares my surname."

The expression on his face hardened. "That as to change."

"Can we talk about this later?" I responded while opening the door to our room.

Chris was lying down peacefully on the bed. Before I could say a word, Kingston had manoeuvred his way and was standing beside him. The look on his face while staring at Chris was priceless. I wish I could picture the moment and frame it. They look so much alike beside each other.

I was standing at the entrance of the door to give him enough privacy, and that was when I noticed the tears on his face. I moved closer to him. "What's happening? Why are you crying?"

He smiled. He was so beautiful that I wished I could touch him but doing that means sending the wrong message.

"He is so beautiful"

Of course, he is. He looks just the way you look.

I nodded staring at a sleeping Chris. He was quiet for another ten minutes just staring at Chris.

"I think I have had enough for tonight. Can I take a picture of him?"

I nodded again

He took up to twenty pictures of Chris in different positions.

"You need to come I the mansion tomorrow. We have a lot to discuss."

I nodded.

"Don't nod. I want to hear your voice and promises"

"I will come tomorrow to the mansion."

"Great..." his eyes fell back on Chris "...And while coming, bring my son."

My eyeball widened. why does he need Chris in his mansion? His he trying to collect him in that way?

"I thought you said you just want to meet him. Please, don't take Chris from me. He is all that I have."

He raised a brow. "I haven't said anything about taking him yet. I only asked you to come along with him to the mansion. I want to see him in the daylight and see the way he plays and acts."

I wasn't relieved. The word yet kept ringing in my ear. Then he had a plan of taking Chris but he was still giving me enough time. I have to find a perfect solution before he finally decides to take the boy from me.

"Luisa..." his voice was accompanied by a tap on my shoulder. "Are you listening to me at all?"

"oh... yes... of course. I was listening to you. You said I should come to the mansion with Chris."

He was strangely staring at me, "Are you okay?"

I chuckled, "Of course, I am. Why wouldn't I be okay?" I decided to flash him one of my priceless smiles.

He smiled back. "I will be expecting you in the mansion early tomorrow morning. I can ask a driver to come and pick you up."

"No. No. No. We can come by ourselves. There is no need to send a driver."

"Are you sure? I just want you guys to be comfortable on your way there."

"I have been coming there a lot. I know how to get there without being stressed."

He placed his hand on his chin, "What about my son? I want him to be comfortable. I will send a driver and there is no debating that. I can't have him taking a public bus."

I wanted to scream that he had been taking a public bus since he was born. I never knew tonight was going to be this long. Trying to avoid more arguments, I decided. keep quiet while bobbing my head up and down.

Satisfied with my response, he finally took his leave after a glance at a sleeping Chris and the most genuine smile I have ever seen on his face.

The only thought in my mind was how to escape with Chris before morning.
